Wonderful movie about the true story of Saroo (Sheru), accidentally being carried away 1600 miles across India as a young boy. It’s showing his journey from being homeless to getting adopted and finding a privileged live, eventually yearning to find the roots of his existence. Unless you have the emotional range of a teaspoon [(c) Hermione Granger, Order of the Phoenix], this movie will pull you right in and keep you fascinated. Especially the first half feels extremely authentic and is fairly close to the book, with quite a few simplifications of course. The third quarter is a bit weak, Saroo’s relationship with Lucy and conflicts with Mantosh over-emphasized (neither mentioned in the book), but getting great towards the end again. Amazing story, finally finding your roots after 25+ years and reconnecting with your family!

This movie was so boring. It tries to come off as another Slumdog Millionaire story. While the story itself is quite fascinating, this director took out any charm or fun or adventure that could have been. It was an absolute snore fest. A real snoozer. So boring.
