Synopsis

Regina King's directorial debut imagines a night in February 1964 when real-life friends Cassius Clay (Eli Goree), Jim Brown (Aldis Hodge), Sam Cooke (Leslie Odom Jr.), and Malcolm X (Kingsley Ben-Adir) gather to celebrate Clay’s win -- he just defeated Sonny Liston and earned the title of the new heavyweight champion of the world.

They know that even celebrated Black Americans have restrictions in society -- in one scene when Brown visits the home of a white benefactor, he is told he can't enter the house. This shocks Brown.

The four men gather at a Miami motel and soon, the conversation gets serious as they discuss whether Black entertainers should speak out against racism, and how Black celebrities can really serve the Black community.
