My most successful New Year's resolution actually happened last year. I was in a career which I really liked at first but after almost 30 years, it really wasn't fun anymore. I decided I was going to change careers and look for a new job I enjoy going to. Well two years later after all the training I am now doing something I love. I now work offshore and couldn't be happier. It's scary making a change but if you don't try, you won't know.😊

Honestly, I don't really do the whole "resolution" thing.......but I do "try" to tell myself I'll "try" to eat better, exercise more, etc...the 'usual" things you hear all the time. Sometimes it works a little (at least at the beginning)....but as the year goes on, it tends to fall off to the side sadly. With my health "better" after the last many years now though....I am "hoping" next year will be at the very least one of my best in many years for many things. Health, happiness, and more. So fingers crossed :)

My new year's resolution was to have a better 2019 than 2018. 2018 for us was terrible - my father-in-law was diagnosed with prostate cancer, my sister-in-law was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, my mother-in-law fell and hit her head which resulted in many months in hospital, and my brother-in-law passed away suddenly at 48. It seemed like the worst year ever. Well, 2019 started out with my mother-in-law still in hospital improving bit by bit. Then, one week into January she had seizure after seizure and finally found peace in May when she passed away. My widowed sister-in-law now lives alone as her twin boys moved away for college, and there have been a lot of dates that are tough to celebrate. 2019 has been hard, and especially now around the holidays. It was just as hard as 2018. My hope is that 2020 brings us all (including the reader) health and happiness. Thank you for letting me open up. A good cry on a Friday feels good.

LOL Well, I was planning to take up jogging again, but then I went and slipped on ice Dec.30th and broke and sprained my foot (and tore a ligament too!) and so I would say that considering I am still recovering almost a year later, that it was a disastrous fail lol
  • Luisa M. - 12/13/2019 7:48:16 PM

  • TinaC - 12/14/2019 1:58:07 AM
My BEST New Years resolution was to stop making resolutions years ago. I think it's stressful to put that kind of pressure on yourself just because it's January 1st. Winter is not my favourite season and it's so easy to lose motivation during the cold, dark months. Now I make periodic small goals on an ongoing basis. I find that September seems to have a sense of renewal and is always a nice time to review and make a plan for the rest of the year.

I don’t quite believe in NY’s resolutions... because everyday is a resolution to do better. You win some and you lose some. But you get up and try again instead of beating yourself up for failing. So that’s my resolution for another year. KEEP ON LIVING!
  • Mirina S - 12/14/2019 2:49:20 AM
I wanted to cut out sugar completely and nobody believed I could do it. So it was motivation for my health and to hopefully prove everyone wrong, which I did by stopping for the whole year and losing 45lbs! Biggest fail, decluttering!
  • Jessica - 12/14/2019 3:12:07 AM
My worst resolution idea without much thought process into unfortunately was 2019. Everyone was and still is raving about these Keto pills, and the diet. Not saying I hadn't seen results from this miracle came into everyone's life. My own father lost 30 pounds, maintained it off for good part year. Now wasn't expecting this Keto revolution to give me a Victoria Secret model body, hip & butt way to big. I was hoping to feel comfortable in bathing suit, minus big coverup wear overtop it. I thought, says take 1 a day. 💡Quicker results, take 2. Spend $450!! My dad got them online, same he had taken. Well if you expect it to just shed pounds and don't work out. Or change your night time snacking, sneaking in carbs almost daily. Last 20 days, still have 10 left in first bottle, 4 not even open. #$450resolutionfailure

Each year I give up alcohol in all forms from January 1st to March 17th (St. Patrick's Day). I make an exception for Superbowl because, I mean, come on. But I find this a good way to "re-set" after the holidays. I spend less, I shed a few pounds, I eat better, etc. Highly recommend.

To do one overly grand and extravagant thing for a stranger each month - anonymously - and to help a heart out there that needs a little bit extra of that Christmas spirit, all the year long. To be honest, I think it was twice as rewarding for me as it was for the recipient and I was the real benefactor of this resolution.
