I loved going to Midnight Mass when my parents were still here that was a magical tradition that began in childhood. For my own family it is settling in Christmas eve for a fun evening. I baking and wrapping,the kids snug in PJs settled under warm throws watching classic Christmas movies, lots of excited chatter, popcorn & impromptu Christmas "plays" that bring a smile to my face. Its not any one tradition its each and all.

My favourite holiday tradition is cooking all our family's traditional dishes such as pierogi, cabbage rolls and lasagna. The process usually starts a week before the holidays and carries on up to the day with the turkey and all the fixings. The biggest reward is seeing everyone happy and their bellies full with all my "cooked with love" dinner. A final toast to a job well done! My favourite holiday tradition is a "silent auction" my mother-in-law hosts every Christmas. The adults don't exchange gifts, so instead she collects things throughout the year that she thinks we will all like. Then she hosts a silent auction with a timer and everyone writes their name on the things they want. It can get pretty heated, especially if there are homemade preserves on the table!

My brother and I invented a game when we were kids called â€œHide the Yoda in the Christmas Treeâ€.We loved a Star Wars and Christmas so this was the best of both worlds ! One person would hide Yoda and one would seek with â€œhot and coldâ€directions . As Yoda was small and green the game would go in for quite sometime ! The most memorable was a couple years ago when our tree had an unfortunately accident. It hit another on the way down and its top popped off! All we could do was laugh! When we got home we used to zip ties to reattach it and all was well!

My favourite tradition is coming home from a Christmas Eve party, and sitting around the Christmas tree with my parents, sister, and fiancÃ©. Then, the minute it strikes Christmas Day, we exchange gifts and hang out. We've been doing this since I was a few years old, and now that my father is terminally ill, it's become one of my most prized memory and tradition. My favorite holiday tradition is the annual Knox United Christmas Concert at my childhood church in Edwards, Ontario. I was in the concert as a little kid reciting a recitation, then as a teenager I was one of the people in the play. I no longer am in the concert, but some of my nieces and nephews are. I go every year, to watch them perform, and to me it isn't Christmas yet until the Knox Christmas Concert.

I enjoy everything about Christmas -ok, maybe not being at the mall when it's crowded - but especially I enjoy our tradition of the Advent wreath. Starting 4 weeks before Christmas, we light one candle the first week, two the second week and so on until the 25th.We do this just before bed, with a short devotional while enjoying eggnog & cookies and listening to carols. It's a wonderful way to relax and reconnect during a busy season!

My hubby and I live in Langford, BC and we like to go to the Butchart Gardens on Christmas Day, just when it's gotten dark, so we can take in their wonderful 12 Days of Christmas Light Display!!! It's absolutely gorgeous in the gardens and the perfect time to enjoy a cup of hot cocoa as we view the beautiful light displays and listen to the carollers sing. Definitely a tradition we plan on keeping.

My favorite Holiday Tradition... hmmm.. there are so many things we do every Christmas and they are ALL fabulous. Probably decorating the Christmas Tree, then on Christmas morning when we all open our gifts and we get to see the faces of the children there and what they got..lol.. they are sooo sweet and then the pictures taken of those same faces!! Also driving around seeing the lights. But then there is going into the malls and seeing the fabulous ways everyone has decorated their stores and hallways.. wow.. love that for sure!! See what I mean? Its hard to pick just one.
