Although many celebrities are on social media, some choose to keep their private lives private.

Amy Adams has never had an Instagram handle, but the coronavirus pandemic has prompted her to join the popular social media platform and here's why.

She and her friend, fellow actress Jennifer Garner, want to support children who are stuck at home due to the outbreak of COVID-19 around the world, so they're reading books to children on Instagram:

"My friend @jennifer.garner and I are launching @SAVEWITHSTORIES – a spot to watch your favorite celebrities read your favorite children’s books. We are galvanizing as a community to support a new fund for a combined effort between SAVE THE CHILDREN and Share Our Strength’s NO KID HUNGRY (and a big thank you to our founding publisher, Scholastic♥️).” ⁣

However, entertaining children isn't the only goal of the page. Amy and Jennifer are also concerned about making sure children who rely on school programs to be fed don't go hungry. Here's what she wrote:

"THIRTY MILLION CHILDREN rely on school for food. Responding to the needs of kids during school closures, @savethechildren and @nokidhungry have a new fund @SAVEWITHSTORIES to support food banks, and mobile meal trucks, and community feeding programs with funds to do what they do best—and also—with educational toys, books, and worksheets to make sure brains are full, as well as bellies.

She went on to read Dinosaur Princess, written by her nine-year-old daughter, Aviana Olea Le Gallo, illustrated by her husband Darren Le Gallo.

So far there are seven videos, including Jennifer Garner reading The Three Little Fish and the Big Bad Shark by Ken Geist, illustrated by Julia Gorton.

Reese Witherspoon reading Uni the Unicorn, by Amy Krouse Rosenthal, illustrated by Brigette Barrager.

Natalie Portman reading Is Your Mama a Llama? by Deborah Guarino, illustrated by Steven Kellogg.

Jimmy Fallon reading This Is Baby by Jimmy Fallon, illustrated by Miguel Ordóñez.

Jenna Ortega, the 17-year-old star of Disney's Stuck in the Middle, reading Don’t Call Me Bear! by Aaron Blabey.
