The long weekend saw the debut of the highly anticipated Marvel film Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania in theaters and as expected, it easily won the number one spot. See below for the full details on the top five.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Kathryn Newton, was the only new film to break into the top five at the weekend box office with an impressive take of $104 million. Click here to read our review and click here to watch our interview with Kathryn Newton.
In its 10th weekend, Avatar: The Way of Water starring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana held onto second place, taking in an additional $6.1 million for a total domestic take of $657 million.
Last weekend's box office champion, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, dropped to third place, earning $5.5 for a two-week total of $18.1 million.
Climbing back up a spot was Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, in fourth place. The animated film, featuring the voice of Antonio Banderas in the title role, earned an extra $5.3 million for a nine-week total of $166 million.
Rounding out the top was was Knock at the Cabin starring Dave Bautista and Jonathan Groff, which earned an additional $3.9 million for a three-week total of $30.4 million. ~Alexandra Heilbron
