Cuba Gooding Sr. Cuba Gooding Sr. was found dead in his car in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon. He was just seven days away from his 73rd birthday on April 27.

Law enforcement reported to TMZ that the singer was “slumped over in his silver Jaguar” parked on Ventura Blvd. in Woodland Hills. Members of the Los Angeles Fire Department attempted CPR but were unable to resuscitate him.

TMZ reports that police suspect the soul singer died from an overdose. According to Coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter, the cause of death is still under investigation, but police did find drug paraphernalia and alcohol in the car.

Cuba Gooding Sr. was the lead singer of the band The Main Ingredient and was famous for his 1972 hit "Everybody Plays the Fool." It was this song that helped him make the move from the Bronx to Southern California.

He survived by his wife Shirley and their four children: Oscar-winner Cuba Gooding Jr., actor/rapper Omar Gooding, April Gooding and musician Tommy Gooding. ~Marriska Fernandes

    Drugs take so many people and now we want to legalize marijuana? Carrie Fisher said that's what she started with and then, it wasn't enough anymore so she moved on to heroin and cocaine. Consequently suffered poor health and died at 60, completely unrecognizable as the person who once played Princess Leia.
