Ed Sheeran deletes Twitter after Game of Thrones cameo Published By Marriska Fernandes on Jul 18, 2017

Ed Sheeran on Game of ThronesSinger Ed Sheeran, 26, was not too happy with the feedback from his Game of Thrones cameo. Hint: He deleted his Twitter account on Monday, July 17, hours after the seventh season premiere.

While he hasn't given a reason, fans speculate that he deleted his account after the criticism he received for his role on the show. Ed starred as a Lannister soldier who sang a song around the campfire and exchanged a few lines with Arya Stark (Maisie Williams).

While some described his performance as "distracting" and "unnecessary," others praised the singer's bold move. Earlier this month, the Grammy winner was thought to have quit Twitter after he told The Sun: "I've actually come off Twitter completely. I can't read it. I go on it and there's nothing but people saying mean things."

He later appeared on the Today Show and clarified: "I got asked in an interview if I read negative things and I was like, 'I don’t even go on Twitter anymore.' But it’s not like I’ve quit it. I still post on Instagram and it goes to Twitter, but I’m just not going to wake up and read something and be like, 'Oh, well that’s ruined my day.' I don’t want to choose to do that anymore. There’s so much positivity out there."

He continued: "I’m just saying … as a human being, we always read the one negative one and ignore the others and I don’t want to do that. It’s just foolish to do when there’s so much love out there in the world, to look at the negative stuff. I’m just choosing not to read it."

Oops, it looks like he may have just read a bit too much of the negative ones. ~Marriska Fernandes

Now, do people think that cameo was forced or unnessessary because they already heard he campaigned to be in the show so they felt he was just plopped into a scene just because? Well almost every season someone is walking and they always run into a group of people by a fire trying to eat. This is a scene like every other except these guys were friendly (for once) and happened to be singing. I thought it was great and to see them laugh when Arya Stark said she was going to kill the Queen to Lannister soldiers and she laughed and smirked was awesome. Ed Sheeran isn't an actor but if you didn't know it was him, you'd think it was a scene like every other similar scene from each season and he did a fine job.

I agree complete, a light moment in a rather dark series, nothing wrong with that! He did a fantastic job and I really enjoyed the scene, funny when she said she was on the way to kill the queen, again, a great moment. Well done!!

I absolutely concur with the two previous Posts. I am older and have no Idea who Ed Sheeran is, lots of actor have the training to sing and well. So just enjoyed the scene as it played out and if those lads had seen her last scene well the smirk says it all.

I agree with first post and i think that's the problem, because so much people do know who he is it just broke the mood, like is this an ad for his next song. They could've at least dressed him up a bit with a wig or beard or something. Don't hate the guy it was just not right.
