Fast and Furious 9 fifth movie to delay due to coronavirus Published By Alexandra Heilbron on Mar 12, 2020

Michelle Rodriguez and Vin Diesel in F9Following in the footsteps of Paramount Pictures, which announced today that their movies A Quiet Place Part II and The Lovebirds would be pulled from the release schedule due to the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, Universal Studios has pulled Fast and Furious 9, a.k.a. F9, which was set to release May 22, 2020.

The film has been rescheduled to release in April 2021, much to the disappointment of fans of the franchise.

Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto in the films, apologized for the delay on social media, writing, "We feel all the love and the anticipation you have for the next chapter in our saga. That’s why it’s especially tough to let you know that we have to move the release date of the film. It’s become clear that it won’t be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May."

He added, "While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration."

This is the third movie to announce a release date change today, and the fifth since the coronavirus outbreak.

We will continue to update as more studios make announcements. ~Alexandra Heilbron
