Guy Pearce says Kevin Spacey was a 'handsy guy' Published By Tribute on Jul 04, 2018

L.A. Confidential starred Guy Pearce, Russel Crowe and Kevin SpaceyGuy Pearce recalls the time he worked with Kevin Spacey on the 1997 film L.A. Confidential, admitting it was a "difficult time."

Pearce was on the Australian talk show Interview, which was hosted by Andrew Denton. When Denton mentioned his former co-star, Pearce said: "Tough one to talk about at the moment. Amazing actor. Incredible actor. Mmm, slightly difficult time with Kevin, yeah. He's a handsy guy."

He then added: "Thankfully, I was 29 and not 14."

In October of last year, Spacey, 58, was removed from the film All the Money in the World and lost his starring role on the Netflix series House of Cards after actor Anthony Rapp accused him of inappropriate sexual touching when Rapp was just 14 years of age.

Since then, more people have come forward to accuse Spacey of sexual harassment and assault, including eight people from the set of House of Cards and 20 other testimonies from staff members at Old Vic, the prestigious London theater where Spacey served as artistic director for 11 years.

Spacey is also being investigated by the London police for three new sexual assault claims. ~Marriska Fernandes

I think it's pretty clear what Spacey is. I wish he'd tried to get "handsy" with Russell Crowe. He wouldn't have a face left if he'd tried that.

I'm not saying Spacey isn't a perv, but why the hell does everybody waits for years and years to complain ? Do they all want their 15 minutes or were they promised it and never got it ? When I was raped as a 14 year old boy, by 2 child care workers, I shouted as loud as I could till somebody listened. I was hospitalized and checked out. The 2 men were arrested and held in jail for a time, till they got bail. In 1974, it was unheard of, for a male to make charges of rape against someone. It was embarrassing and very difficult, the whole trial and everything. To have to keep reliving it was not fun !!!! But, I didn't wait 10,15,20,25,30 years to do something about it. Sounds to me, like maybe these people got promises that didn't materialize, for sexual favors and now they are complaining.

Derek - you have NO idea! Many stay silent their entire lives. Personally - it took me over 30 years to speak up and that's only because my health had gotten so bad (as a result of the abuse) - that I had to be in counseling. It was only with the help of a good therapist that I spoke up at all. By then the abuser was dead so there was no reward in it for me. It was gut-wrenching hard. I'm glad that you spoke up - that you shouted until heard. That's fantastic!!! If that happened each time - the world would be a better place but not everyone has that strength or presence of mind. Plus the abuse is not the same in each case. Just saying - don't judge. So much you don't know.

Derek, first of all let me start by saying I'm very sorry you experienced the abuse you did, but a lot of times, especially in a "Hollywood" situation, people wait because they're threatened to "never work again" if they tell. Plus, sometimes people just know how to "groom" you to the point where in the beginning, you question yourself if he/she just accidentally brushed up against you or was it intentional and it grows from there. If you listen to or read the story of the countless people who have stepped up/come forward in Hollywood, it's because they were terrified of the power that the actor or director or producer held over them and were truly afraid that they in fact would be labeled as no good or a trouble maker and so they put up with it. It's horrific for women and men both, but I think for men, it's (like you said, embarrassing)and they feel shame if they've been a victim at the hands of another man. It's great that you stepped up and spoke right away, but the situation is day and night different with celebrities and "famous people". I'm a 57 year old woman who to this day has not spoken of some of the things I experienced as a child.

You know I'm fed up with all these actors/actresses who are now letting the world know that they knew something was going on but never stood up like grown-ups and tried to stop sexual advances, etc. from happening in the first place. Are they such cowards or fear that their careers may be ended if they came forward and told Directors, Producers, newspapers, someone, anyone, that people on the movie set were being sexually harassed? Yes the person doing the criminal dead should be punished and made to make amends to the innocents/victims, but those who stood by and did nothing but watched should also take some of the blame too. They knew it was wrong and did nothing then, but now that this subject has become popular and is in the press these sideliners are coming out to talk about how sad it is. Yeah right ... coward ... your too little and too late!!!

Sounds like Guy took care of himself and wasn’t attacked by Spacey, so there was really nothing to report. He was 29, probably told him to keep his hands to himself and that was that. But it’s interesting that no matter the age or sexual orientation of others, Spacey just couldn’t keep his hands off other men and boys.

It is easy to say what 'you' might do in a sexual harassment situation, but once you're in the middle of it, you don't know what you would do, especially when your livelihood depends on it. As an actor on the set, you might try to distance yourself from the person, avoid them at all cost etc. You hope like hell you never have to work with this person again. If you tell the director, the agent, hell a cameraman, guess what would happen? NOTHING. They would boot you out so fast because if it gets out, the movie/tv show/production/sponsors would be shut down, money vanished and lots of folks out of work for a long time. I am not excusing horrific perv behavior, but if you are low man/woman on the totem pole your whole life would screech to a halt and you would have to prove it down to your very core. If Weinstein, Spacek and other are laid on the line some 10, 20, 30 years later, so be it. Yes, it's long overdue, but the accused is brought down and their shame with it. It's about time.

Sometimes you end up blocking the memory out until someone releases it. You live your life not remembering what happened to you. That is what happened to me. The person who abused me is dead. I was 21 when the memory was triggered. I think that is why some people have waited so long to come forward. Did that really happen?
