Kate Hudson and her brother, Oliver, were threatened by the ex-business partner of their estranged father, Bill Hudson, according to legal documents.

Update: The case was dropped on May 17, when Hudson didn't show up before a judge, according to TMZ.

When a film deal between Bill, a musician, and his former business associate, Eric A. Zimmerman, went sour, Eric apparently threatened via text messages to harm Bill and "drag your children into it as well" by sullying their name in the media.

TMZ confirmed that in the documents, Eric went so far as to also indicate he would shoot Bill, texting, "the safety is off and I have my finger on the trigger."

While Bill Hudson hasn't had much to do with his children for years, saying in 2015 that his kids were "dead" to him (they were raised by their mother Goldie Hawn and stepfather Kurt Russell), he clearly still looks out for them.

In order to protect himself, Kate, Oliver, and an additional two children, Bill filed a restraining order against Eric, which was agreed to by the presiding judge.

Eric Zimmerman is now prohibited from having contact with any of the Hudsons. ~Alexa Caruso

    the man should be charged with "uttering death threats" and he should have weapons restriction and a seizure of any and all present firearms

    Say what you want about their relationship with Bill, he's still somewhat a stand-up guy for looking after their safety.

    Because a piece of paper stops a madman. Eric needs to face a change of uttering threats and should never be allowed to possess a firearm.

    Totally agree that he needs to be charged with uttering death threats. This is ridiculous.

    Clearly, Goldie has held Bill Hudson back because of demands when they were married that they have an open marriage - but she did it her way, therefore, pitching the children against their real father - this is not secret as Goldie did not want a book that Mr. Hudson wrote and banished it even before it came to press. Clearly Bill Hudson who is a good guy looking out for the 2 children.
