Lily James has cancelled two major television appearances to promote her new Netflix film, Rebecca, after photos surfaced of her last week looking very cosy with actor Dominic West, leading to rumors that they are having an affair.
Lily and Dominic star together in the upcoming BBC mini-series The Pursuit of Love. However, Dominic has been married to aristocrat Catherine Fitzgerald since 2010 and they have four young children together.
Lily and her Rebecca co-star Armie Hammer were scheduled to appear on an episode of Today this week to promote the film, and Lily was also slated to appear on the British talk show The Graham Norton Show, but both appearances have been cancelled.
Reps for the talk show sent out a press release stating that Lily's Rebecca co-star Kristin Scott Thomas would appear instead.
Lily, 31, and Dominic, 50, were seen passionately "kissing and cuddling" in Rome last weekend according to the Daily Mail. Dominic, who plays Lily's father in the BBC mini-series, reportedly shared a suite with her at the ritzy Hotel De La Ville. They were also photographed riding on a scooter in Rome, and at one point Dominic appeared to be kissing Lily's neck.
At the end of the weekend, the paparazzi caught them kissing at the Leonardo da Vinci airport on their way home to England.
Dominic told the Evening Standard in 2016, "I think women should be more indulgent of affairs. I really do. It’s daft to kick someone out over a fling. Isn’t it? Everyone should turn a blind eye to men’s behaviour between the ages of 40 and 50. Let it all blow over."
Although Lily James has been lying low since the photos appeared online, Dominic immediately invited photographers over and posed with his wife outside of their home. They kissed for the cameras and handed out a note that read, “Our marriage is strong and we’re very much still together.”
However, this prompted a fellow passenger on the British Airways flight to speak out. The businessman told The Sun, "To be honest, the reason I’m speaking out is because of that cringing statement and photocall he and his wife gave." Speaking of what he witnessed of Dominic and Lily on the plane, he said, "Within minutes of the plane leaving, they began kissing and cuddling after both removed their masks... they behaved very much like a couple. He was whispering passionately in her ear while they kissed."
Lily is also booked on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night, but no announcement has been made in regards as to whether or not she will still appear. ~Alexandra Heilbron
