It was an arresting weekend at the box office as business continued to slow down for the third consecutive week.

Leading a trio of new releases and taking the top spot at the box office was Columbia Pictures' first tentpole film of the summer: Men in Black: International. The sequel/spinoff took over the number one position at the box office with $28.5 million. But that figure represents a franchise low for the Men in Black series, making it the first to open to less than $50 million at the box office.

Dropping to second place was Illumination Entertainment's animated sequel The Secret Life of Pets 2. The followup adventure for the furry pets held steady in its second weekend at the box office, bringing in $23.8 million. For its 10-day domestic total, The Secret Life of Pets 2 has grossed over $92 million.

Holding steady at third place for the second consecutive weekend was Disney's live-action reimagining of Aladdin. The Guy Ritchie-directed film brought in an additional $16.7 million at the box office to bring its 24-day domestic total to over $263 million. The film now comfortably sits as the fourth highest grossing film in Disney's line of live-action remakes.

Falling to fourth was last week's number two film, Dark Phoenix. The finale to Fox's X-Men franchise saw a big drop from its opening weekend to finish with just over $9 million at the box office. Its 10-day domestic total now stands at $51.8 million.

Rounding out the top five is the Elton John biopic Rocketman. The Taron Egerton-starring vehicle brought in an additional $8.8 million to bring up its 17-day domestic total to $66.1 million.

I am going to see this great movie tomorrow June 19TH. I can hardly wait, going to see in 3D. I have seen all of their movies & just love all the actors & the wild aliens. There is always an expectation of what the new aliens will look like. They always come up with the wildest, craziest, unique characters. Last night I watched Men In Black 111 & loved it, & to prepare for the new Men In Black Universal. I love Chris Hemsworth & Liam Neeson. I watch everything that they are in. Also, you can't go wrong Emma Thompson. I saw the trailers & they just tease you for a mandatory of I have to see this movie. These 3 actors are in great demand, they have other great movies out too. The casting is a great choice, the director is right on their mark. I also saw it is tearing up the box office. Fantastic, I am sure I will be just tearing with laughter.
