Michelle Rodriguez threatens to leave Fast and Furious Published By Tribute on Jun 29, 2017

Michelle RodriguezMichelle Rodriguez has made a name for herself over the years since starring in The Fast and the Furious in 2001. Her character Letty is one of the only prominent female figures in the blockbuster franchise. Although it wasn't her first film, you can't argue that the flick helped her become a household name in Hollywood.

However, it looks like she won't be making an appearance in any more installments, unless they decide to go in a different direction with the cast. Michelle is threatening to walk away from the franchise if they don't include more females in the future.

In a post on Instagram, she took time to promote the digital release of The Fate of the Furious, and also contemplate whether she should quit the franchise.

"F8 is out digitally today, I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one, or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise. It’s been a good ride & I’m grateful for the opportunity the fans & studio have provided over the years... One Love."

Michelle isn't the only recurring female character in the franchise -- actresses such as Jordana Brewster and Nathalie Emmanuel have made multiple appearances in the series. However, their roles usually come only as love interests or associates. In the newest installment, newcomer Charlize Theron had a starring role as the villain Cipher.

Last September, Michelle told Entertainment Weekly she was hoping to see more women in future films for the franchise. If she were to leave, it would mark a significant change for the Fast & Furious series, seeing as her character Letty Ortiz has been a staple in all the films so far.

"In order for me to be a part of the franchise in the future, they need to up the ante on the females. I mean, it’s like a sausage factory in this thing." She added, "I just need some more feminine energy. We need some more women on the good side." ~Brenden Zerihun

Meh. She doesn't bring that much to the show.

umm Paul Walker was a staple and everyone moved on after his death. They keep bringing in more characters, some can leave too. But, I do think they could try and give women more prominence in the movie(s).

Always welcome more strong female character. However, I think she forgot about Gal, who "was" a recurring character in FF4, 5, and 6. She was also the stronger one in the Gal-Sung relationship. It is too bad Jordan can't return. With Charlize (likely to continue) as the main villian, maybe 1 more new addition would be cool. :)

F*** this saga should have stopped at 6 or 7. What was that bullshit of them working with Shaw after he killed their friend. Waste of time.

I agree, im a guy but another main female caracter would be great, theres something about a pretty girl kicking ass ( just look at how successful Buffy the vampire slayer was ). drop one of the guys and add another girl.

I would like to see the woman cop come back. She started back in when Dewayne Johnson come to the picture. I do agree we do need more ass kicking women in the F.

You know that's the problem. Women want ti be in movies or whatever case is but instead of just enjoying the ride being grateful where they are they need to pull power trip after a while. I say let her go I never thought she was a good actress. I don't think she is that good to try to make a statement like that. I day dump her and bring in a better actress. Jessica Biel Jessica Alba and many more ...

Perhaps it's because she's bi-sexual or a lesbian now, in the real world.

Fast & Furious without Letty would be like Romeo & Juliet without Juliet.

What else is she going to do?

Who cares! The last movie was bad. Will more characters make it better? I doubt it. Let the franchise die in a massive crash scene where everyone is killed with no dream sequences so they can not be resurrected. The imagination in Hollywood is dead.

In the film Biz ... everyone is replaceable. Once you loose that paycheque life ain't so grand.
