This weekend’s new movies in theaters give fans the long-awaited return of Thor, the first holiday film of the season and the star-studded horror drama The Killing of a Sacred Deer. ~Hayley Michaud

Thor: Ragnarok - Since Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) has been imprisoned without his mighty hammer. Thor’s home of Asgard is under threat from the goddess of death, Hela (Cate Blanchett). Before he can return and save his home, he must first survive a gladiatorial challenge created by the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum). His opponent? His fellow Avenger, the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). The Killing of a Sacred Deer - After the death of his father, Martin (Barry Keoghan) is taken under the wing of renowned surgeon Dr. Steven Murphy (Colin Farrell).
