Obi-Wan Kenobi solo Star Wars flick in development Published By Tribute on Aug 18, 2017

Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)The list of Star Wars spin-offs and solo flicks continues to grow as an Obi-Wan Kenobi-focused film is apparently in development at Disney.

A source told Variety that Disney is in the early stages of developing a film centered on the beloved Jedi master, though an exact release date is not known.

Rumors are that the studio also already has a director in mind -- Stephen Daldry, the Oscar-nominated director of Billy Elliot (2000), The Hours (2002) and The Reader (2008). In terms of a writer or script, Disney has apparently not yet nailed those details down.

Casting for the popular character has also not been confirmed, though you may remember actors like Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor have donned the cloak and saber in the famous role.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is a main character in the Star Wars story. Known for training Anakin Skywalker before he became the evil Sith overlord, Darth Vader, he also continued the Jedi saga by awakening the power and nurturing the skill of Luke Skywalker. It was then that his story came full circle and he was killed by his once student, Vader.

The latest Star Wars character to get a solo spin off is Han Solo. Though the film has been marred with development issues after losing its original directors and problems with the main actor's performance, things seem to be moving in a good direction with the film's now-director, Ron Howard.

Han Solo - A New Star Wars Story is still scheduled for its original release date on May 25, 2018. But you don't need to wait that long because the main trilogy continues with Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which blasts into theaters December 15. ~Alexa Caruso

Bring back Ewan McGregor! Is it his early days or what happened for the 18yrs after he disappeared and before Luke came back into his life? Either Way Ewan should do it!

agreed, bring back Ewan. He is not that old and can easily bring back that character.

Agreed, either Ewan McGregor or don't bother. and the only timeline would be after he disappeared, the early days, he wasn't a Jedi. he wasn't a Jedi until after Phantom Menace, so unless they expand on him teaching Anakin then ug not even going to continue on that timeline. After he disapeared, or again don't bother.
