Oscar-winning actor Martin Landau, 89, died at UCLA Medical Center on Saturday, July 15.
His reps confirmed the news on Sunday with a statement: "We are overcome with sadness to report the death of iconic actor Martin Landau. He had just celebrated his 89th birthday."
Landau was taken to hospital last week, and died of unexpected complications several days later. He was best known for portraying horror movie star Bela Lugosi in 1994's Ed Wood, which earned him an Academy Award.
He is also recognized for his work in the 1959 classic film North by Northwest and for his role in the 1960s TV series Mission: Impossible.

Landau is survived by his ex-wife, Barbara Bain and their daughters Susie Landau Finch and Juliet Landau. ~Marriska Fernandes
