Prince album 'Purple Rain' to be reissued with unheard songs Published By Tribute on Apr 28, 2017

PrinceNPG and Warner Bros. Records announced that the iconic Prince album Purple Rain will be getting the remaster treatment. The album is expected to be released this summer with several songs that haven’t been heard before.

The reissue will come in two separate packages as deluxe and expanded deluxe. These versions of the album will include all the original songs from Purple Rain, as well as 11 songs "from the vault and previously unreleased." According to the record labels, Prince was a part of the remastering process in 2015.

One of the unreleased songs on the remaster include the previously leaked "Electric Intercourse," which ended up being removed from the original. The song is available for download today (April 28) if you have pre-ordered the album. This will be the first time fans can hear the studio version of the song, as it was only heard live before.

Other unreleased tracks include a solo version of his song "Possessed" and 1983 instrumental "Father's Song."

This edition of the album will also include the film Prince and the Revolution Live!, which was recorded in 1985 on the "Purple Rain" tour in Syracuse, New York.

According to Billboard, all of the material on the album was mastered by Bernie Grundman, the same engineer who worked with Prince on the original album in 1984.

Ho hum. His time is over. If I'm going to purchase music, it's going to be new music.
