A History of Violence

Good fighting scenes.....but REALLY bad ending! Left the theather wondering...."and then what????"

This was the worst movie I have ever seen, the most depressing aspect of it all is that it had the full potential to be an amazing film. If you`re looking for advice don`t waste your time or money with this film; and if you have seen this movie can someone please explain why was she naked again????

YOU know when Stewey (Family Guy) is sitting in the theater and watching "Bewitched" I believe, and William F. says back to the girl after she says "I am a witch" and he says "And I am a clipper`s fan" (NOTTT FUNNYY). Than Stewey walks out and takes a trip to LA, and smacks the shiznit out of him. WELL THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANT TO DO TO THIS DIRECTOR AND EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THIS WAST OF TIME, film, money, nerves etc... WOW SPICE WORLD HAD MORE ACTION AND BETTER ACTING woowww I walked out within an hour into the movie bottom line is DO NOT GO SEE THIS MOVIE, DO NOT GO SEE IT !!!!!!

Wow, this movie seems to have flown over a lot of people`s heads judging by some of the negative comments. Those who condemned it for both its sex AND violence obviously didn`t understand what the movie was about (probably LOTR fans excited that that Aragorn guy was in another movie.) And come on, it`s called "A History of Violence", you should know what you`re getting there (it`s not even remotely subtle.) It`s really kind of sad since Cronenberg really dumbed it down for people and they STILL didn`t get it! Still, it`s one of his best.

This was the worst movie I have seen in a while. There was a lot of pointless scenes in it. Several indecent scene not suitable for respectable people. Ending was really bad. It was really a waste of money and time.

If you thought "SAW" was a good movie you will love this. Alright so this movie was one the of worst i have seen. Anyone who sees this movie should see the other side of the film. The acting was horrible, the characters had no developement and you were sitting there waiting for the movie to start. The cinematography was horrible, the score throughout was terrible. There are not enough words to explain why the movie sucked. The whole thing was just 1 giant waste of $20 AND 96 minutes of my life. Problem with (or perhaps greatness of) Cronenberg is that he`s rarely discernable in a single viewing, thus I having left the theatre not absolutely certain with what I saw. Sex scenes, however, were not pointless as the two obviously parallel each other thematically. Cronenberg fans will be pleased, most others - likely not.

WEAK!! pointless sex and pointless killing, I`m a dude so normally that would be ok, but this movie just didn`t cut it AT ALL. not to mention a ridiculously weak story (if you can find one) and of course the ending...or lack there of. all i have to say is that i was really disapointed, only thing that was worht while was Vigo holding it down

This movie was okay. Alot of things were kind of spelled out for the audience instead of respecting their intelligence to figure things out. Viggo is great, but pacing was a bit slow.

UM ok. Anyone who thinks this movie is great or deserves more than 2 stars are either with the film company or friends of the actors! This was by far the worst acting I have ever seen. Sex scenes were stupid and the violence was ok but unnecessary in some parts. The movie didn`t flow nicely. The story was probably a good idea but not worked on properly. The only good acting was Ed Harris. BAD BAD BAD movie. If you really want to check it out, it`s worth the wait for rental....and even then it`s a waste of your 5 dollars. Horrible!

Its david cronenberg... expect violence and sexuality that extends past most limits the average population is used to. I am undecided as to whether i liked the movie, but if you like other stuff by cronenberg and are a fan of the dark and disturbing you`d probably like it. -jen

It was a very very slow movie. It should have been titled the History of Sex because that is all there was in the movie. Rarely any violence. Just of a lot of unnecessary scenes. Would give it 0.5 stars if that was an option.

Wow! At first I thought Cronenberg was taking it easy with this one, going for a more mainstream film (though definitely an effective one), but as I thought about it more and more, I realized afterwards the film was a lot deeper than I initially thought. It`s probably one of the more effective films on violence and its place in the world, best since Peckinpah`s Straw Dogs. Ed Harris was absolutely chilling. Didn`t know what to make of William Hurt, though. Viggo was good. Very polarizing and thought-provoking. Also quite violent, just as a warning.

excelllent movie!!!not for the faint of heart though. strider kicks major ass against some very evil dark charactors. a must see.

it was alright...considering it got 4 1/2 stars i thought it would of been a bit better though...but it was good...not for children under 14 at least because the sex scences are expicit. and the violence is gory but well done. so overall its a good movie

That was the worse movie i have ever seen in my life.There was no certain point in the movie.The sex action part of the movie was pointless and unnecessary.%100 pure violance that even make you throw up.In my opinion that movie has no story or script to follow and that was just wast of money and time! Hint: Do Not Wast Yuor Time For That!

At the end, I had no idea what was happening. Great action, very violent as the title says, but I left the theatre wondering why did it end like that?

This movie had great acting and was pretty violent so I dont recommend this movie for the squimish but if your up for some edge of your seat action then buckle up and sit down for the ride

Very predictable. Story line could have been more exciting. End was disappointing. Not worth $10.00.

This film proves once again David Cronenberg is a true master of film. Not much else I can say, other than if you love Cronenberg, you`ll love this film.. if you love great films in general, you`ll love thsi film. And if you like pretty popcorn movies, stay at home. You won`t appreciate it.

Incredable unbelieveable movie about a small town average guy named Tom Stall. This movie will keep u on the edege of ur seat wondering if he really is Joey Cusack or not.
