Spent a lot of money on effects and CGI, but $1.50 on script and plot. This movie is so bad that if made in America, the cast would be mostly black, hispanic and asian.
I just hated it. I thought the protagonist would learn from his experiences, but he never did. He was vile. What a waste of time watching this, I can't believe the Brits voted this best picture. It was the worst picture, worse than even Everything Everywhere All at Once. That at least had plot and character development.
I guess there were no Italians on the western front.

I loved the movie itself but its completely different from the book. and its not a sympathy movie for one specific side its a movie about the atrocities of war and how they were just kids fighting in a war they didn't want to be in
Awesome third version of this film . I thought it would be hard to watch seeing it was in German with English subtitles , but it was not an issue . Any war movie buff should love this film .
I'm supposed to care about a GERMAN in a film set during WWI? No thanks!
