The movie was very good and creative. LOVE IT!!!
I have seen the Broadway production and appreciate this movie is that ....a movie. That said, it was delightful. I saw the show with my daughter and granddaughter and we thoroughly enjoyed the movie. The singing was great, dancing incredible and costumes creatively real. There was humour, there was sadness....Each main cat has its own story just as real cats do....and each cat was loveable. Movie did not have to rely on technology alone to be great.
There hasn't been a movie musical this cheery and fun since Rhinestone.
Critics don't have imagination or they really hate cats. The singing was beautiful, costumes creative and adorable, great acting. I loved the movie as much as I had the play.
Bizarre production of a group of cats who are in a cult or something and they're supposed to be stray cats even most of them are far fat to be strays and they pick one of them to be jellied up or something. It was incomprehensible and the songs were lame.
Many would find this movie tiring but I loved the music and acting. It was different!
ew
Meouch,, anyone giving this more than 1 star has been paid to do so,,
If this film is so good with all the fake 5 star reviews then why did it bomb embarrassingly in the theatres? Think about that before you believe a five star reviewer.
Worst movie. We walked out not even half over
Having seen the Broadway show 3 times, I was glad to see the movie to get the full story and words to the songs...it was just as the Broadway show was, at least to my memory. The cat suits were furry compared to the leotard ones,,,some voices were not strong but I truly enjoyed the movie very much...I went in very cynical after reading and hearing but I always need to see for myself and we were not disappointed. I hope more people who have seen the Broadway version, go to see it..It would be a shame to see it lose money.
GREAT
Just remember...cats are not dogs! Lotsa talent displayed by actors and actresses.
Love it! Great cast and performance. Don’t understand all the negative reviews. I think maybe it helps to know what “Cats” the original musical is about to really appreciate this movie?
So, as seen by ratings you will either love it or hate it andI did not care for it.
Look at all these Auto Bots with there raving reviewz , if only the box office earnings reflected your praise
Enjoyed this movie so much! It definitely is interesting and entertaining. I went in knowing it was fantasy and a musical about singing cats and that there was dancing. Thats what it is ... plus the costuming reflected each actor's personality somehow and the scenery and sets were wonderful. Everything went together very well. I saw no glitches with CGI. Totally ejoyed it. Would go again to see what I missed ... sorta like the Star Wars movies, so much goes on I know I missed some good stuff.
Don't know where the negative reviews are coming from, but my family and I loved, loved, loved this movie. I had never seen the play, but my wife had decades ago. My kids loved the spectacular cinematography and costumes. It was thoroughly enjoyable!
The negative reviews are seriously way over-blown. I enjoyed the entire film and came as a newbie to CATS, not knowing the story, music, or previous stage versions. It satisfied my short attention span for the entire movie.
This movie is so good! I love the message that it sends. No one wants to be rejected, or an outcast. For those who say its "strange" you missed the message.
Keep in mind this is a live Broadway show captured on film with a story. Superstar casting with Taylor Swift and Jennifer Hudson. Stage and costumes quite creative. Different and entertaining.
Better movie than reviewed. CGI poor. Hooper should never work again, but the movie is worth the cost of admission. If you can ignore the bad CGI, most of the movie is enjoyable.
I am a fan of the stage production and had low expectations going into the movie, but I came out having really enjoyed it! The performances were great and the choreography was beautiful. Don't knock this movie until you've seen it!
Loved it
as a fan of live theatre production of cats the movie did not even get close to the magic of the play. I was ridiculous and poorly acted. Very disappointing.
Loved this movie it is really excellent I think Taylor S should have had a bigger role though. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the movie critics got it all wrong. Loved the music and the dancing it was just amazing. Want to see it again soon
Amazing! The dancing, costumes, set and outstanding cast!!!
Bizarre and horrifying. Definitely NOT a movie for those who have truly lived. Teachers might like it.
My wife and I Ioved this movie. The Cats movie naysayers lack sufficient imagination, appreciation for beautiful dance and music, and recognition of the intimacy of the camera lens, as well as the pageantry of the stage.
What a fun imaginative movie! What's not to like?! Great music, dancing, scenery, costumes, and acting! You just need to enjoy the creativity and fantasy of it... it's a musical after all.
Someone earlier said this production would give them ear worms. After seeing the movie, if I were a cat, I would need a dose of de-worming medicine. Also something for heart worm, ringworm and rabies possibly.
Of course it's not "realistic" or "believable." It's a musical, and it's fantasy. The music was great (Andrew Lloyd Webber always is...), and the acting and humor were thoroughly enjoyable as well. If one wants an "escape" from day to day norms, this is a delightful way to go!
Worst movie ever made. It’s so bad you can’t even watch it to make fun of. Has no plot and no characters and songs were just fitted it. Save your money and go to anything else. This truly tanks.
My wife and I saw the movie today, Taking our grand children to see it tomorrow. Have seen the stage play many times. The players are excellent, the music excellent, this is a fantasy , and you should be willing to let your mind go with it. It should win some awards.
I would rather remove my own skull than see this movie again, it’s the movie equivalent of menstrual cramps, an insult to movies, actual cats, and humans too
Delightful and entertaining with a very talented cast and creative sets. An improvement over the play in explaining the plot. The music and dancing are top notch, and there are some stand-out numbers. Dench, Swift, Corden, and Hudson are excellent in their roles, but so are many of the other actors. The special CGI effects shouldn't put anyone off in this day and age.
Wonderful, whimsical, and clever theatrical production. Great ballet and dance numbers. You just have to "go with it", use your imagination, and be entertained. There is, indeed, a plot where special "Jellicle" cats come together to compete at the "Jellicle Ball" to be chosen for another life. It's a kind of "Alice in Wonderland" fantasy that's loads of fun to watch! If you haven't seen the play, at least listen to some of the songs on-line to get the gist of it (especially with the British accents).
This movie was dead on with the story, music and characters in the theatrical version, I highly recommend going to see it. It was a 10 for me! I would suggest doing some research regarding the story line before going and being disappointed. Rating the movie as boring, waste of time etc is not fair.
Fantastic production, and certainly the visuals complement the theatric productions which we have seen in London and New York. Highly entertaining with excellent dancers and that music! Which should give us both ear worms over the next while!
This one didn't land on its feet.
