For people who think that the movie was an adolescent flick making fun of people and guys who are still virgins; then why would you bother seeing the movie??!?!? Hence the title "40 year old virgin." The movie was hilarious!!! Steve Carell is a funny guy. The story line was good, I didn`t find the profanity that bad. I mean If my grandmother can watch this movie and like it then all the people who thought there was too much swearing maybe really are prudes!!! Who would take their children to this movie anwyay?!?!?! It`s aboout sex and him being a virgin, who in their right mind would take their kids? That`s the parents fault, noone else`s!!!

Yes this is a low brow movie with toilet humor which if you liked Wedding Crashers you`ll like this movie. It`s definitely a shock value adolescent flick that makes fun of people/guys who are still virgins by age 20 which is the main theme. Single minded story that is carried for 120 mins.

An extremely funny movie!! This movie requires a mature sense of humor, and people.... don`t bash Steve Carrell, he IS a good actor and just because you didn`t think the movie was funny, doesn`t mean he`s a bad actor...how bout them apples...??

Funniest movie of the year. Almost as good as Old School and better than Wedding Crashers.

I wasn`t expecting it to be very good based on previous reviews but I was plesantly surprised! It was quite vulgar at times, but really funny. My face hurt by the end of the movie from laughing so hard. It is now one of my favourite comedies so far this summer (as well as the Wedding Crashers).

I think it has to be the best written comedy ever. The writing and the story line were amazing. This was a very real, and moving movie that did not make the lead character look like a loser. Only a real human being. I really think it should win many awards. PS I am normally a prude!

Mmmmmmmmm... it could have been a much better movie if there had been a lot LESS swearing... I think it went way overboard! (And I ain`t no prude!) one starr outa 5 at best!!!! Certainly not a movie for children! I want my money back!

Right above this comment box it says "Comments will not be posted if they contain certain things but especially profanity, when the movie it`s self was constant profanity. My husband and I went to watch a halarious movie and had to leave in the first half hour the profanity was beyond being able to sit through. I realize it is very difficult today to find any movie without profanity but this was horrendous. I am VERY disappointed that I wasted my money!

The 40 Year old Virgin was hilarious. I laughed so many times, in fact the whole theatre was laughing. If you want a no mind, funny movie definately go see it. Definately not a kid`s movie, so be sure to leave them at home.

This was an absolutely HORRIBLE movie!!!!!! Do NOT waste your time or money. It is nothing but a slur of vulgar language and poor taste. Members of the audience were walking out during the movie. We asked for our money back and got it. Please do not let your children or teen ager see such a distastful movie. The movie is not clearly labelled as vulgar and offensive but it definitely is both!!!!!

if our generation`s comedy is Jon Stewart`s comedy, then this movie is a prime example... bursting with original romantic comedy humour... i`m guessing the people who had nasty things to say about it just don`t like the genre at all...

This movie could seriously be the funniest movie I have ever seen. Steve Carell is wonderful in this role. The comedy is so fresh and different as well. I was still laughing when the credits came on and my stomach hurt I was laughing so hard.

I don`t see why everyone is complaining, I really enjoyed this movie. It wad funny, it was sweet, in retrospect very enjoyable. Steve Carrel is a very funny talented actor.

First saw Steve Carell in The Office and he was very disappointing in that. The other actors were good, but he just didn`t pull it off. Same here. He`s not funny at all and his attempts at humor are cringeworthy. I don`t see what waxing your chest has to do with acting (responding to comment below). Anyone can wax their chest but it doesn`t make them funny or a good actor.... duh.

AMAZING MOVIE: I thought this movie was original and hillarious, I am sorry for the prudes who didn`t enjoy it, maybe Classical music and wine is more of your thing. If you like to laugh and actually enjoy life go see this movie. I laughed more than i did in Wedding Crashers. And give the lead actor a break people. HE ACTUALLY HAD TO WAX HIS CHEST for that scene so all the reactions are real. Makes for an amazing scene. GO SEE THIS MOVIE

The story line failed to reach its potential. Many of the laughs could have been achieved without the extreme vulgarity. With this movie expected to take in $20M in the first week, the laugh will be on the audience!
