The Batman does what great movies of any genre are supposed to do: entertain. Added to that, there is a poignant love story. This movie deserves six stars!

Fun action packed superhero movie. Gorgeous cat woman.

An interesting experiment that just misses the mark. Should there be a sequel, Jaden Smith or Camila Cabello would be natural choices for Robin. If they go the reboot route, a third Burton-Keaton movie would provide a proper capper to that earlier, much-loved version of Batman, with the added bonus of Johnny Depp as Mad Hatter. 2/5

Everything

To those making excuses for the cheap-looking Bat suit: Bruce Wayne has more than enough money to build a state-of-the-art suit of armor, so either he or the Brothers Warner were extremely frugal with the costume this time. But don't despair, Bat fans -- think of this as a one-off as the series will no doubt right itself in the not-too-distant future.

Monday, March 7, 08:30:49 PM

Say what you want about Batman & Robin, it wasn't dull.

Monday, March 7, 08:29:45 PM

Kept waiting for something to happen, but it never did. Perhaps Denis Villeneuve can give fans a worthy Batman reboot once he finishes with DUNE...

Monday, March 7, 08:25:06 PM

Too long by half. Penguin and Riddler steal the show.

Monday, March 7, 04:24:53 PM

The second best Batman ever. Better than the vast majority of superhero films that are just too formulaic. It is a bit long, but in my view the length is not really noticeable because the story and acting are tours de force.

Monday, March 7, 11:53:44 AM

Acting was very good. Movie kept me on the edge of my seat! Lots of action, but really on the DARK SIDE -- murder, corruption and mental health. BATMAN A TRUE SUPERHERO FILM.

Monday, March 7, 10:39:08 AM

Once you realize that this Batman is only 2 years into the character..it explains why the Bat suit is pretty basic and there is very little technical gadgetry which made the previous Batman series so much more exciting and satisfactory..

Monday, March 7, 07:38:07 AM

They didn't give Andy Serkis anything to do, despite the protracted run time.

Sunday, March 6, 11:02:05 PM

Pattinson's Batman was annoying in the same way Garfield's Spider-Man was: too many smart ass remarks (Batman is NOT supposed to be a comedian!) with a very off-putting, completely unfounded sense of superiority for any grown-ups in the room. Also, needed to be trimmed by about 90 minutes.

Sunday, March 6, 10:44:38 PM

The Batman: a grim, film noir, focused on exploring the dark side of human greed, corruption, and murder. It’s a crime thriller, filled with broken characters, living inside a flawed city, run by anguished bureaucrats. Rain, darkness, and fog blankets Gotham with terror. This film is not for everyone. The Batman is an incredible achievement in cinema. 4.5 / 5 stars.

Multiple times, while watching, I thought about how well the actors were playing their roles. Solid film, with the riddles having layers.

Sunday, March 6, 07:37:53 PM

Best batman yet. Not a lot of Bruce Wayne. But a lot of true Batman detective work! Great action!

Sunday, March 6, 01:32:33 PM

Slow at times and long (3.5 hrs). Nonetheless, this was a very good movie and an excellent reboot of Batman. Can't wait until the next movie in the series.

Sunday, March 6, 11:52:45 AM

I agree with the growing number of people expressing their distaste for what's come to be known as the "Pat Suit." It's hilarious and makes it impossible to take Pattinson's Batman seriously. The suit looks horrendous, as people have said. Horrendously cheap, too -- but that was likely mandated by the studio to keeps costs down.

Sunday, March 6, 10:46:48 AM

The acting, good choice with this new Batman, loved all characters 👌

Sunday, March 6, 10:33:34 AM

I was skeptical of Robert Pattinson as the Batman but I love hero movies. I was surprisingly entertained and I really liked the movie. I would recommend If you’re looking for a movie with super action this one has a song but is mostly backstory. And ask for the angst of this Batman you have to remember the show Gotham that was on TV. They turned from having Batman as the sophisticated awesome rich guy who helps people too this angst ridden dark character that has to overcome every obstacle in his life. When you realize this is the newer Batman’s and then you’ll get it. But they definitely have to stop with the rotating in new Batman‘s every freaking movie because you can never get into a character if every damn movie it’s a new freaking person different personality different look and a whole different feel. They need to start staying true to their selves and the character and stop making the character so miserable. Get back to what’s right and get back to the original.

Awesome

Sunday, March 6, 07:44:07 AM

There's no mistaking the overtly lugubrious tone permeating the movie's taxing and bloated run time. A special prize should be awarded to all who manage to somehow stay awake all the way through...

Sunday, March 6, 04:34:50 AM

I felt bad for Andy Serkis; what a waste!

Sunday, March 6, 04:32:18 AM

The studio needs to rethink what it does with the property and retool before giving us another Batman. They let A LOT of fans down with this one. :(

Saturday, March 5, 09:10:41 PM

Come to see it without expectations and you will be suitably impressed. A fresh and darker look at the world that The Batman occupies. Not as bright as other movies in this genre but that's also a bit boring. Have fun!

Saturday, March 5, 05:44:32 PM

We didn't need another Batman so soon, and this one's pretty boring to be honest.

Saturday, March 5, 02:20:00 PM

Its not a perfect movie but its a perfect batman movie

Saturday, March 5, 03:39:37 AM

A minor entry in the series, quickly to be forgotten.

Saturday, March 5, 02:08:39 AM

The Patman's no Batman.

Saturday, March 5, 02:07:07 AM

Sunk by the most embarrassing suit ever.

Saturday, March 5, 01:23:43 AM

It had a very complex story line which would be hard to understand at times for the average joe but me being a big Batman fan with the comics it really came to life. The action scenes where huge and the lesser scenes kept you guessing. Overall I highly recommend for huge Batman fans but if you’re more into action just know that there is less action in this one compared to the dark night trilogy etc.

Friday, March 4, 10:39:36 PM

I was expecting a action/adventure super hero movie….. this was a disappointment

Friday, March 4, 07:13:19 PM

very sexy

Friday, March 4, 07:09:36 PM

Good story, good acting, good plot. No blue sky-beams or gruff voicing. Batman

Friday, March 4, 06:50:11 PM

I was not expecting to like Pattinsons version of Batman, but he was right. He did not need to get super bulked up for the role as the movie explores the very beginnings of the Batman character. I really enjoyed the movie and while the pacing lagged a little during the middle of the movie, the payoff at the end is well worth the wait. I just hope that Pattinson can continue to develop Batman the way this movie showed him doing.

Friday, March 4, 04:00:52 PM

Pattinson is a great Batman! The movie was the perfect start to a new era of Batman.

Friday, March 4, 11:05:13 AM

Didn't feel very Batman about this movie. There is more to Batman than just the suit. He wasn't very smart, or very heroic. The whole show seems to build up to almost nothing very interesting. There's not much fun in this show. Do not bring little children to see this because one, it's too violent with serial killer vibes, and two, kids will be bored with the long slow build up.

Friday, March 4, 08:01:26 AM

This is what DC should be doing with their films. Formula cinema has ruined the comic book industry.

Friday, March 4, 02:36:20 AM

Neither a rebirth or the unmitigated disaster many had been expecting, The Batman provides many of the established tropes fans of the series have come to rely on: a dank and dreary city overrun with crime and corporate greed, a trio of memorably despicable villains, and lots and lots of gadgetry. So what -- if anything -- does it offer that's new, and the answer to that is The Batman himself. As portrayed by Twilight's Robert Pattinson, what we get unfortunately is an uncharacteristically petulant Caped Crusader -- a vacuous, hopelessly immature and superficial young rich kid, always cracking wise while treating everyone around him like garbage. Evidently he thinks he's better than everyone else (even Alfred!), which makes it all-too-easy to empathize with the bad guys for most of the film's three-hour, overextended runtime. The verdict: Bat fans deserve better. ** / *****
