i am canadian, and yes they did poke fun at canadian sterotypes, laugh it is not ment to be a seriously! we do not laugh at ourselves enough in canada. it is true that quebec is most socialist province in canada but i like qubec in canada and i very proud of things that come out of quebec like cirque de soleil! i love all the madagscar films. if you can not take a little teasing about national sterotypes then you can never laugh at anyone poking fun at any nation; if a canadian was poking fun at himself or his countrey would you be as offended, most would just laugh and say you know maybe we are a little like that! also if it seriously offended people that you do not have to see film, and ca
can't imagine why dreamworks would feel the need to insult canadian's and french work ethics in a childrens movie. doesn't make much sense really when you consider they know ,they will be showing the movie in canadian theaters, its as the old saying goes "biting the hand that feeds you ".i saw it today with my grandchildren and being 5 and 7 the remark was missed by them, but every adult in the theater was stunned. i'm guessing that dreamworks thinks our work ethics are so bad that none of the profits will come from canadian theater, since we only work 2 weeks a year and can't afford a trip to see a movie ! maybe some canadians and french will chose to pass on the next dreamworks film
a blatant attack on canada. we all need to get us some t shirts.
i was very soured by the canadian comments. i felt it added nothing at all to the movie. the whole theatre was shocked by the comments. poor choice by dreamworks
great physical humour but anti-canadian comment and other ethnic stereotypes combined with pro-usa message left a bad aftertaste. felt guilty for having supported it afterwards!
my daughter is 7 years old and she enjoyed watching the review. she is a madagascar fan.
nice movie for the whole family.
my daughter and i loved the movie - great afternoon for families!
great movie
excellent and funny movie!
awesome fun, really great detailed visuals nice vistas, funny. and yes, being a comedy, they do poke fun at national stereotypes galore. i am born canadian, and took the reference in stride, but if anyone were french, they would definitely cringe at the main villain in the movie. in my case, in canada, being of chinese descent, we are never cast in positive 'lead' light or characters here, like the usa, always as some 'ethnic prop', never mind even if born here, 'perpetual accented unassimilateable foreigners' and never 'real local canadians/americans'. it was like a mini-vacation to other lands. hilarious. enjoyed especially in 3d.
didn't see the movie yet - but having taught university courses in canada and the states, my experience is that americans are much more ambitious.
i am a very proud canadian and after reading some of the comments i will not be taking my kids to this movie. it is so dissappointing. i hope not all americans feel this way.
great movie!
no need for anti-canadian remarks. american work ethic is no different. i wouldnt call americans lazy and i dont feel it appropriate in a kids film for them to suggest it about canadians
all 3 movies were great! this one met all expectations again. my whole family loved it. especially funny was the work ethic comment regarding the french and canadians. after growing up in the usa and living in canada for the past 5years, the writers hit the nail on the head about the work ethic up here. what a joke! loved it! my wife was the only one heard in the theater!
i am proud to be canadian!!!
if you are canadian, dont go to this film
i was extremely dissapointed by the anti canadian comment that said canadians were lazy. i have many american friends and do business with many americans and do not believe this is some sort of common opinion. however, i found it offensive. had i read the other reviews before going, i wouldnt have spent money on this film. my family will not be buying any dvd's or merchandise. if you are canadian, dont support this film in any way
funny, hilarious trilogy of madagascar! love the animals
This is such a great movie! It's hilarious! Wish I could see it over an over and over again!
lookes very funny hope it is good
loved it , loved all the actors voices , fun for all ages to see. very entertaintig.
why did dreamwork's animation feel the need to not only insult canadians, but lace the story line with political undertones praising the u.s.? completely inappropriate for children and as a canadian, i am incredibly insulted.
funny funny movie!
the best and funniest madagascar yet.
very hilarious, exciting third installment of madagascar 3!
my family and i were offended by the baseless and clearly premeditated anti-canadian comments in dreamwork’s film “madagascar 3”. these references were not only incorrect, but they contributed nothing to a banal plot. i challenge the writer responsible to come forth to explain the intent of these remarks in the storyline. it appear underlining sentiment of the film is designed to appeal to the u.s. right wing, where demeaning others is the only way they strengthen their convictions; the definition of “bullying”. unfortunately, dreamworks offers no comments option on their website.
thumbs down, not a patch on the previous 2 movies. also did not appreciate the negative comments about canadians and canada during the movie dialogue.
