Thursday, April 1, 04:02:45 PM

What a fascinating movie! I never heard of this true story before and I am glad that I know more about this fascinating man. I would definitely recommend this movie, not only for history and war buffs but also for fans of human interest stories and the courage we all bring.

A great historical drama that balances character development with important moments and dates way better than say, "Amelia." You get a strong feel for why decisions were made, the arguments for and against certain actions and the personal and mental impact of war. Recommended viewing.

The following are my comments about Max Manus: - great opportunity to learn about WW II from this perspective which was something completely new to me, -liked how the film paralled the lives of these patrotic Norwegians who courageously formed the resistance and fought for their country, - film wasn't too gory but realistically conveyed what war was about including suffering, loss, pain, teamwork, bravery, love, and freedom, - am more interested in foreign films and also would like to visit Norway and Sweden to relive this history and hear the Norwegian language spoken - enjoyed knowing what became of the people portrayed in the film who survived and what they did with their

I like the acting

Thursday, April 1, 03:26:13 PM

Tightly paced, well acted and interesting story. I knew very little about the Norwegian resistance before seeing this movie. Max Manus really was a hero with an exciting story.

Thursday, April 1, 03:24:09 PM

Initially, the subtitles bothered me - but I was soon caught up in the movie. It was certainly an entertaining take on the resistance movement during the second world war. Overall, it was a very well made movie!

Thursday, April 1, 03:21:34 PM

It was an alright film. Boyfriend enjoyed it. Kinda dragged on towards the end. Didn't realize that it's based on a true story. The actor who played the Gestapo leader is incredibly hot!

Thursday, April 1, 03:18:46 PM

Good movie. Great retelling of a little known history of World War II.

Thursday, April 1, 03:18:09 PM

i thought the movie was done well .. but some areas i thought could have been better or shorter ...

Thursday, April 1, 03:05:40 PM

Thursday, April 1, 02:42:20 PM

Max Manus was the first Norwegian film I have seen and it was well worth seeing. It told the true story of Max Manus, WWII war resister well, with wonderful cinematography and a good supporting cast. That actor who plays Max Manus delivered a wonderful performance with just the right amount of angst and someone fighting inner demons.

An exciting war movie from beginning to end. A touching story of WW II and one of Norway's most decorated war hero, Max Manus. His struggle and victory against the Nazi to free his country was uniquely portrayed.

Thursday, April 1, 02:40:44 PM

good movie, showed another side of world war 2, that I was not familiar with

Thursday, April 1, 02:36:13 PM

Entertaining film, full of suspense. Great performances and a strong story line. Nice to see a biography come to life.

Thursday, April 1, 02:36:07 PM

powerful, moving, entertaining and informative.

Thursday, April 1, 02:35:17 PM

I was surprised by the subtitles, but got quickly into it. I enjoyed the movie very much even if I am not a fan of war time stories.

Thursday, April 1, 02:33:23 PM

It was a good movie, well worth seeing again and definitely something I'd recommend to friends of mine.

Thursday, April 1, 02:31:00 PM

Excellent movie. Highly recommended.

Thursday, April 1, 02:21:16 PM

The film is strong because it focuses on character rather than devoting itself to fighting / illustrating the horrors of war - we've viewed enough filmic images of Hitler over the years. The characters draw you into the movie and the suspense and, at times, humour keep you. I especially admired the conculsion of the film (and the beautiful costumes).

Although it breaks no new ground in storytelling, "Max Manus" stands head and shoulders above most World War II pictures. It also illuminates the story of Norway's resistance to Hitler -- something many viewers know nothing about. I was amazed at how brave these fighters were with the technology they had at hand. They actually had to physically place explosives on ships - unlike today when explosions can be detonated by cellphones. The actors are all very good, particularly those playing "Max" and "Tikken." It was so interesting that I came home and looked up all I could on the Norwegian World War II resistance. A big thumbs up to the filmmakers!

Thursday, April 1, 02:16:45 PM

A really good story told really well on the big screen.

Thursday, April 1, 02:09:02 PM

This was a really good movie - a little violent, so you need to have the stomach for it, but it's a war movie, so you expect bloody carnage.

Thursday, April 1, 01:54:47 PM

Good to know about real heros fro wwII

Thursday, April 1, 01:42:26 PM

I am glad that the movie used different languages, it helped to keep it authentic and real. It is a good movie, I've recommend it and would see it again.

Thursday, April 1, 01:41:25 PM

It wasn't a movie I had planned to see but enjoyed it. It was certainly one I'd refer friends to.

Thursday, April 1, 01:38:08 PM

Really enjoyed the movie, the only problem was the subtitles, some of them were hard to read, blended in with the picture. Also, I find you always miss some scenes because you are too busy reading!

Thursday, April 1, 01:32:19 PM

good story, good actors

Thursday, April 1, 01:29:01 PM

I think this was a great movie and thank you tribute for letting me prescreen it!

Thursday, April 1, 01:26:20 PM

Riveting and awesome...dark!

Thursday, April 1, 01:19:05 PM

interesting movie!

Thursday, April 1, 01:18:12 PM

Yes, I did enjoy the film as I remember WWII. Nice to see a European film that sticks to the facts (must remember to read about it from library books). No one-actor's performance stood out even though they were all substantial. "Blow up" scenes always have that "performed on the back stage" feel and look to them and this film is no different. All in all, I did enjoy it because it was a true story and anyone in espionage deserves a medal. You need nerves of steel. M.A.R.
