Florence Henderson dead at 82

Florence Henderson, best known as Carol Brady in the highly successful family comedy series The Brady Bunch, has died at the age of 82.

The treasured actress died of heart failure at a Los Angeles hospital on Thursday, Nov. 24. Her manager Kayla Pressman told the Los Angeles Times that Florence passed away in the company of family and friends, and that her death came as a shock as she had not been ill.

Although The Brady Bunch (1969-1974) is what established Florence as a star, she was a permanent fixture on the small screen long after the series wrapped. She appeared in the Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated series The Love Boat from 1977 to 1987, hosted her own talk show, and launched Who's Cooking With Florence Henderson in 2013, which wasย a program in which the actress and professional chef Govind Armstrong invited celebrity guests to their set to prepare delicious meals.

She also sashayed across the stage as a competitor in the 11th season of Dancing with the Stars in 2010, and throughout her career, acted in episodes of Roseanne, Ally McBeal and 30 Rock.

Florence took on roles in theater and in film too, last appearing in the 2016 comedy Fifty Shades of Black with Marlon Wayans, Mike Epps and Jane Seymour.

Florence Henderson dead at 82The actress had four children from her marriage to Ira Bernstein. When the couple divorced, she married Dr. John George Kappas and the pair remained together from 1987 until he died in 2002.

Several stars have paid tribute to Florence with tweets posted since her death, including one from her on-screen daughter Maureen McCormick, who played Marcia Brady in The Brady Bunch. She wrote, "Florence Henderson was a dear friend for so very many years & in my forever. Love & hugs to her family. I'll miss u dearly #RIPFlorence."

A few other stars who have expressed their grief and shared memories of the actress are Jason Alexander, Patricia Arquette, Marlee Matlin and George Takei.
