Over nine years since his mother's sudden death, Kanye West is still struggling to cope with his loss.
Sources close to TMZ claim that the rapper's recent "nervous breakdown," which led to him being hospitalized, was mainly triggered by the anniversary of his mother's death.
Kanye's mother, Donda West, tragically passed away on November 10, 2007, from complications following cosmetic surgery. However, her funeral didn't take place until Nov. 20, which is the same day -- exactly nine years later -- that Kanye cancelled his show at the L.A. Forum. The next day (Nov. 21) the rapper canceled the remainder of his Saint Pablo tour and suffered a breakdown just hours later.
According to the site, Kanye never properly dealt with Donda's passing and allegedly always battles with his grief around this time of year. His emotions were reportedly boiling up to the surface in the weeks before his hospital stay, with the pressure of touring and running a business, being a father to his two kids, supporting his wife Kim Kardashian after the Paris incident, and a prolonged lack of sleep cited as the other contributing factors to his emotional collapse.
As previously reported on Nov. 22, the 39-year-old singer was taken to UCLA Medical Center after a "disturbance call that became a medical emergency call." He reportedly became extremely paranoid when he was taken to the hospital and refused to let doctors touch him. He was eventually sedated and is currently being treated by doctors and mental health professionals. There's no word on when he will be released.
