12 Years a Slave

The movie was well acted and was an emotional roll coaster. It bought tears to my eyes and the injustice angered me. I would recommend this movie - the quote "I don't want to survive I want to live" will stay with me always.

Fabulous acting but extremely dark. There was no balence in this movie, just one sadistic slave owner after another, after another. Do not send young teenagers to this.

Great movie!!

I watched the advance screening of the movie and the story of Solomon Northup still remains with me. At times very brutal and tragic, with some wonderful cinematography thrown in so you feel like you're in the South, the movie does ultimately have a 'happy ending'. I left the movie with so many conflicting emotions, and it's a testament to how well the story was portrayed that it still remains with me. A must watch movie and highly recommended.

Michael Fassbender was amazing as always but the main actor was who really blew me away. Just a simple shot of his face gave so much emotion than any dialogue could provide!!

Amazing film. Flawless acting skills with so much emotions makes you go back to the certain time period. Cinematography was absolutely fantastic. Unforgettable long-take shots with stunning visuals. One of the best films of 2013.

In school I learned that slavery was brutal but until I saw this movie I could have not imagined the savagery that some people are capable of towards other people. An amazingly touching movie about the human condition that made me weep.

Brilliant. Everyone in the theatre was crying at the end - such an amazing story. What a horrible life he had as a slave.

This is an extremely powerful film that is brilliantly directed and acted. You are enabled to feel the character's pain and endure his struggle. The ensemble cast all shine brightly. Fassbender is in top form, yet the true stand out is Lupita Nyong'o. Her performance is near perfection and utterly heartbreaking.

This movie is intense and very vey well done. First movie to discuss slavery from this point of view. While based on a true story, we know these types of situations occurred all to often during that time. This film will bring you to tears as it did to me.

Not much of a story line. Seen it all before, slaves being whipped and ill treated, women singing in the cotton fields. A money waster, just like "Gravity".
