beautiful scenary and slow paced story developing.. worth to watch in a relaxed mood.

After some not so great reviews, i was sceptical about this one but it surprised me and i really enjoyed it. I saw Volver, Little Children and this one in two weekends and for me The Painted Veil was the best of three good films. The leads were flawed as real people are. The film built slowly but was worth it. Refreshing film. Go see it and make up your own mind!

Beautiful movie. Thoughtful, slow paced, takes time to develop into a rich offering. Edward Norton never disappoints. NOT for fans of noisy action or fast paced dramas. This movie should really be seen on the big screen.

This was a tritley acted period romance. What was up with the cinematography?!-- the vistas were blurry and overexposed. The camera man should take note of the eloquent beauty of the Chinese countryside in "Indochine". Of course there were some enjoyable moments between sexy Norton and Watts, but the overall effect was amateurish.
