As tributes pour in for Chadwick Boseman from co-stars, directors, teachers and even those who he had never met, his former high school has announced they are paying their respects in the form of a scholarship.
The principal at Boseman’s former high school in South Carolina, T. L. Hanna High School, is setting up the Chadwick Boseman Memorial Scholarship. The grant will be awarded to one deserving student each year.
Walter Mayfield, the principal at the school, told TMZ the goal is to raise $100,000 so the scholarship can last for many years. People have already reached out to donate and the school has set up its own donation page.
Chadwick died August 28, 2020 at the age of 43, after a private four-year battle with colon cancer. He is best remembered for his breakthrough performance as Jackie Robinson in the 2012 film 42 and his award-winning roles as James Brown in Get On Up (2014) and T’Challa/Black Panther in the Avengers franchise. ~Brie Davis
