John Cusack tweets coronavirus conspiracy, then deletes it Published By Alexandra Heilbron on Apr 08, 2020

John Cusack tweeted on Tuesday about a conspiracy linking the new 5G network to coronavirus, but after considerable backlash from his followers, he deleted the tweet.

5G is the fifth generation of mobile internet used in cell phones. Some are claiming the radiation from the network weakens the immune system, leading some to be more susceptible to the coronavirus.

“5 – G wil [sic] be proven to be very very bad for people’s health,” Cusack tweeted. When his followers were outraged by his tweet, he replied, “I got sources in scientific community – and medical,” and called his critics "Just DUMB"and "—ing Sheep."

However, England’s medical director Stephen Powis calls the conspiracy theories “the worst kind of fake news," adding, "I’m absolutely outraged, absolutely disgusted, that people would be taking action against the very infrastructure that we need to respond to this health emergency. It is absolute and utter rubbish."

Dr. Michael Head of the University of Southampton told the Evening Standard, "The celebrities fanning the flames of these conspiracy theorists should be ashamed."

In the U.K., numerous cell towers have been set on fire, including several that were not 5G towers, effectively cutting off cell phone power for a large number of users. Other conspiracy theorists have been verbally harassing workers as they install 5G cables.

Conspiracy theorists say the virus originated in Wuhan, China because 5G networks were deployed there last year, despite there being no evidence to back their claims. Also, many of the countries hardest hit by COVID-19 don't have access to the 5G network yet, including Iran, which was one of the first to suffer from the pandemic.

Since deleting the tweet, Cusack has not mentioned coronavirus or 5G on his social media. ~Alexandra Heilbron

He’s probably an anti vaccer too.

Just finished The Cell on Audiobook and the movie was entertaining, although not great. Still, does make you wonder about the impact of technologies. Will the one day when we reach singularity will it be a SkyNet kind of result?

Well, North Korea doesn't have 5G and they do not have the coronavirus. So, maybe he is onto sometihng. Besides, nobody has actually done tests to see if 5G is harmful to humans.

I remember when John Cusack used to make good movies and was only known for being an actor. The fact that he deleted his nutty tweet gives me a little hope that he hasn't completely gone off the deep end.

5G may be bad for people - It may not - time will tell There have been many times in the past where companies have touted the next great tech or drug and it’s been found to cause more harm than good - with nobody wanting to admit anything (as an example - anyone watch dark waters? Look up that story) I have also heard of cases of a very small percent of the population (like 1 in a million kind of thing - maybe even higher odds than that) having a strong negative reaction to 3G towers (Watched a documentary - sadly can’t remember the name) where it presented outlier cases Of people having strong bad physical reactions to things the majority of people do not and what they have to do to live (one of the people was shown to be reactive to 3G) But tying it to covid in the way the conspiracy theorists are doing is ridiculous

North Korea likely has the Covid cases but refuses to report any

Iran has 4.5G instead..and it will lead to 5G early 2020 I've been following the 5G rollout and I totally agree with John Cuzack. He's being brave to go against the grain. It takes 6 months for the 5G to effectively deplete your oxygen levels and hurt your immunity. so Watch out people. Be forewarned. Just empower yourselves with good healthcare because 5G will soon be everywhere. Just saying.

It's interesting to think that the 5G waves would weaken the immune system.but- you get COVID only? Would it not make you susceptible to any other virus, or just this one? Has 2G, 3G, 4G which have been around for many many years, have they been linked to an increase in cancers or people being susceptible to viruses? Come on, EVERYONE can get the virus as well as other viruses. If you already have a weakened immune system because of your other underlying health issues, you are more likely to get it and get it bad and possibly die from it. If you have AIDS, you don't want to even get a cold near the end because that can be the final straw. Think about it. 5G, not likely. Burning towers-conspiracy terrorists... I mean theorists are gathering in masses to drink the cool-aid. Korea DID have the virus and did report it. But their Gov controls everything so they went on lock down immediately and crushed it. Why did it work? Why did China get theirs under control so 'fast'? Because their Gov controls everything and people were used to having their freedoms disppear. If they were told to stay indoors for fear of being shot, they did it! America and Canada, not so much. The Gov can't tell us what to do, no, no, no you are impeding on my freedoms to spread the disease if I want to. Korea-fixed it fast. China responded and flattened the curve and is starting to open back up again. At least Canada is not like Italy or America, but we have to do more to stop it. 5G should be out of the equation as it's not a conspiracy. 5G is the tech future like the 3G and 4G were before it. Corona a damn virus that escaped it's confines just like a horrible mistake could do the same form the CDC in Atlanta. Just stay home, love your family, play board games and order food online and this will all be over soon.

Good grief. Get a grip. What colour is the sky in your world? If I ever feel like taking a break from reality maybe I'll come visit you just to see.

He's probably right. He shouldn't have bowed to pressure from his critics. They are all afraid of the truth and there is big money to be made from 5G.
  • Chris - 4/9/2020 2:07:45 PM
To the anti-5G twits: Show me one example where tech was connected to spreading an infectious disease (with the exception of malware, ransomware, etc...)
  • TeeDee - 4/9/2020 2:25:01 PM
Cdubya, well said. Yes, North Korea does indeed have their own cases, but Jong Un's ego, like Trump and Putin, is incapable of telling the truth about the numbers. Read dubya's post again if you have to and get a grip. We will get through this virus as we've done before, by being rational and doing whatever we have to. Stay home, stay safe and take care of your health. This is not the time to find excuses to overdrink, overeat or generally slack off on good habits. I recently quit Twitter because I was appalled at the number of people whining and complaining about how much Trump and the coronavirus were "making" them drink booze, use drugs and eat crap food. The ignorance and lethargy are despicable. Fight back. Fight for your health and that of your loved ones.Trump may be a moron and the worst thing to ever happened to the U.S. and its allies, but using him as your excuse to indulge in garbage when your immune system needs you more than ever makes you just as bad as he is. Be well...

PART ONE First off, do i have a right to speak my mind without repercussions? I asked myself over many years, why ? Was it natural evolution when the dinosaurs left, was it intervention, or deliberate? Such anger and war, over what, beliefs, a word in a book? A courageous person to question and educate? I know this sounds like baloney and scotch on iceX Whose to say, how we learn? Every Country has a right to live with aquired wisdom, work together to improve our lives. Harmony is difficult amongst 7 Billion. PART 2 NEXT PAGE

Wow, is no one allowed to have their own opinion anymore, unless it matches up with what YOU think? That is called one facet of Communism. A lot of you had negative comments in reply to his - perhaps those should be taken down to balance it all out? Sheesh.

PART 2 All Leaders must come togther and form a union, we have technology to do it. Whether here or on a ship. I believe every country or land have many intelligent people to make life better? Lets see, all decisions through time are made and agreed upon by voters, by war, or misguided beliefs. Is it greed, desire, unstable interactions and questionable law makers. Should i worry now, i have many beliefs and thoughts. Is it medication, water or the food we eat, the air we must breathe to survive? The infected land by the wars, contaminated waters and soil. The animals that rely on the plants and water and the infections created by our actions unknowninly? The meat we eat, is it healthy, contaminated or something created by the people to make more coin? Even the fish and birds. Should i continue?? How about war? Destroying each other in stead of love and good leadership? Sure, it is all crazy and impossible to fathom. Or, is it punishment from up above or below. Or the ones trying to speak their minds and find solutions with the wise to educate with health and safety wherever we are. PART 3 NEXT PAGE

Worked in microwave for several years. While I like the conspiracy theories against"the man" (big telco); The effective radiated power of towers would have to be many times higher than it is, to be more dangerous than your phone. The FCC knows this. (Their justification) So if your still on that "phones are irradiating our brains" thing; So be it. But I doubt the towers are the problem.
  • Daniel Schneider - 4/10/2020 12:00:32 AM
I believe it is a conspiracy as well. I do believe there is a virus I also believe there is something bigger going on than just a virus that the government and media are covering and are just trying to brainwash us as usual. People are sheep they just believe everything they hear that's part of the big problem of why this world is so fucked up and why the g overnment is able to control us because people just go along with everything they say and are easily influenced by the media. You need to think and use your brain. Question things and challenge them before you just jump off a bridge. I'm not even able to get rubbing alcohol that I only buy when I run out. I only need one bottle but people seem to think they have grab everything. So selfish showing their true colors. Canadians are not friendly it just depends on the people. Anyways if the everyday people could just get on the same page and take a stand towards being comtrolled and lied too we can put any end to this dictatorship that's what the government wants to do starting a new world order. But it's tought because so many people just buy all the bullshit and just like the government and the media the people that are under their spell try to gang up and bully anyone that isn't a yes man. Trying to make those who stand up and won't back down look like their crazy and the worst people in the world. Yeah were just so bad because we don't allow ourselves to get brainwashed and try to think and use our brains to research things rather than just jumping on board the corrupt ship as soon as were told to without any hesitation or rational thought. Be aware, alert, and cautious but don't allow the powers that be to stop you from living your life and taking your freedom. Don't let your rights be taken away and allow the government and media to control your life.

To the point made at end of article that he has not mentioned on his social media. He did clarify in a Reply Tweet on 4/8 (responding to @stop5gmi: "Saying 5 g might be harmful- zero connection to pandemic.." Seems his original posts implied that this type of radiation can weaken the immune system, thus make someone more susceptible to a virus.. that is back by many Dr's & scientists. The Environmental Health Trust lists 100's of peer reviewed studies.
  • Chuck Lee - 4/10/2020 3:26:05 PM
Saw mention of the FCC regulating, that is a joke! If you do any research on them you'll find the FCC is now the most "captured" of any agency. Their Chairman is a former Verizon attorney. It's all about $$ now, no concern for health of the people. How can this not alarm anyone?
  • Sharkey - 4/11/2020 12:41:33 PM
If your opinion is based on belief, speculation, or anecdote - without a scientific rationale or without substantive evidence - then your opinion is not only worthless, it is harmful on some level.
