Matthew McConaughey on flight that injured seven people Published By Alexandra Heilbron on Apr 12, 2023

Matthew McConaughey and Camila from his Instagram page @officiallymcconaugheyDuring a recent interview with Kelly Ripa, Matthew McConaughey revealed that he and his wife Camila were on a Lufthansa flight that suddenly dropped 4,000 feet.

The Oscar-winning actor wasn't wearing his seatbelt, but because his tray was down, he stayed in place. He explained: "My tray table is what held me down. I did not have my seatbelt on, and there was not a seatbelt warning right before it happened. I just immediately reached over, made sure Camila had her seatbelt on."

Unfortunately, seven other people weren't as lucky, sustaining injuries due to their seatbelts not being on and/or objects flying through the aircraft cabin.

Matthew told Kelly, "It's suspended disbelief. I mean, it's zero gravity. Your red wine and the glass and the plates that your food was on are all suspended, floating, still just in the air. And to look at it for that long, which wasn't that long — one, two, three, four — and then everything just comes crashing down."

Matthew was on his way to Vietnam, but after the incident, the plane was rerouted to Washington, D.C. He eventually made it to his destination.

Currently, Matthew can be heard as the voice of Elvis Presley in Netflix's animated series Agent Elvis. ~Alexandra Heilbron

Woah, I would have a heart attack if that happened on a plane.

So as always advised at the beginning of every flight I have ever been on...keep your seatbelts fastened at all times; unless you are out of your seat. Duh! The pilot and attendants aren't always able to provide notice of turbulence. Be smart and stay safe up there.

I will definitely keep my seatbelt on throughout an entire flight from now on, even if the seatbelt light goes off.

That would be a trip, I'm surprised nobody was freaking out. I always keep my seatbelt on in a plane or a car, obey the rules and you might be safer. I don't have a lot of confidence in anything that is of the airplane nature since Kobe Bryant died I don't think I'll ever get over that. Prayers of first thing I do and that's what I would have done in that situation
