An early Tuesday release of Spider-Man: Far From Home may be this week's headliner, but there are other notable films worth checking out this 4th of July weekend. From a potentially new horror classic to a riveting documentary, as well as two indie films of self-discovery, there's much to explore at the cinema. ~Paolo Maquiraya

Midsommar (July 3) - Dani (Florence Pugh) and Christian (Jack Reynor) are a couple on the rocks who travel with friends to attend a once-in-a-lifetime midsummer festival in a remote Swedish village. The seemingly wonderful environment soon devolves into a series of bizarre festivities that put Dani, Christian and the rest of their group in danger from the local villagers, who have other plans for their visitors.  Click here for showtimes.

Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am -  A look at the life and works of acclaimed novelist Toni Morrison from her childhood in a steel town to her book tours with Muhammad Ali. Morrison reflects on her lifelong deconstruction of the master narrative. Opening in Toronto today, and on July 12 in Montreal. Click here for showtimes.

The Last Black Man in San Francisco - When friends Jimmie (Jimmie Fails) and Montgomery (Jonathan Majors) return to their old house in San Francisco, they find that though the house may be the same, their home and place in the city has changed. Time and the ever changing nature of the city seem to have left them behind. Though Montogomery wishes to leave, Jimmie desires to stay behind as the last black man in San Francisco.
