This weekend five new movies were released, with three of them earning spots in the top five at the weekend box office.
In first place was the new The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, the direct sequel to The Lego Movie, featuring the returning voice talent of Elizabeth Banks and Chris Pratt. The film earned an impressive total of $34.4 million in its first weekend.
Debuting in second place was What Men Want, starring Taraji P. Henson as a woman who acquires the ability to read men’s thoughts and uses that to her advantage. The film earned $19 million.
The new action movie Cold Pursuit starring Liam Neeson about a man out for revenge following his son's death, opened in third place. The film earned a domestic total of $10.8 million in its debut weekend.
In fourth place is The Upside starring Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart, which earned an additional $7.2 million for a total of $85.8 million in its fifth weekend at the box office.
Rounding out the top five was Glass the thriller by M. Night Shyamalan, which earned an additional $6.4 million for a total of $98.5 million in its fourth weekend.
