John Stamos' wife was drunk when she went into labor Published By Tribute on Apr 25, 2019

John Stamos in Fuller HouseFuller House star John Stamos revealed during an interview that his wife, Caitlin McHugh, was "hammered" when she went into labor.

John, 55, and Caitlin, 32, were married in February 2018. John revealed that towards the end of her pregnancy, Caitlin checked into the hospital when she thought she was experiencing labor contractions. However, the doctor convinced her it was a false alarm. John told People magazine: "The doctor said, 'Why don’t you go home and have a glass of wine?'"

Caitlyn took his advice, but because she rarely drinks and had not had any alcohol during her pregnancy, she quickly became drunk. John believes the wine got the baby moving, because not longer after, Caitlyn's water broke. John explained, “She had one glass of wine and she was hammered!”

Caitlyn added: “It was really funny. I get to the hospital and I said, ‘I already had a glass of wine, now it’s a party!’ Then they gave me the epidural and I was laughing all over the place. It was basically a Slip ’n Slide."

This is the couple's first child, and although they did not experience an ideal birth the two were ecstatic.

John, who first gained fame at age 20 when he was cast as street kid Blackie Parrish on General Hospital, said, “I waited a long time for a kid. I just had to meet the right person to do it with, and to straighten my life out. I was always meant to be a father, I think." ~Emily Chavez

not laughing here... can cause fetal alcohol syndrome, or other life time complications. I wouldn't recommend her Obygyn...

It's not going to cause FAS if she only had a glass of wine on her delivery date, they clearly stated she never drank at all during her pregnancy.

I didn’t drink alcohol during my pregnancy or even pop. After my child was born, I had a Coke, I can tell you I felt drunk. I had slurred speech and I didn’t have firm walking steps and stumbled a couple of times. I don’t know what they put in Coke but, I didn’t feel like I could drive either.

To Eleanor and anyone else who is ignorant, one glass of wine at the end of a pregnancy will certainly not cause fetal alcohol syndrome, and besides the article clearly states that the doctor suggest the drinking. Read the article, educate yourself on facts, and get a grip before you comment.

Lol at how many people think drinking the day the baby is supposed to come will give FAS. Bruh the DOCTOR told her to have a glass of wine, you know better though eh?

A glass of wine on the day of delivery is not going to cause FAS, Eleanor. Get a grip! My obgyn told me the same thing as my water broke but no labour for 2 days. I opted for Chinese food instead.... big mistake. Gag.

I was thinking this article would incite comments about FAS. I even thought that at first, until I read the article and saw she never drank the whole pregnancy and her doctor (which I heard doctors are ok with a glass here and there) does not make a FAS baby. If anything it probably helped with the whole labour process! 55yrs old, better late than never Uncle Jesse! lol. Congrats!

Cute story. If you're not accustomed to drinking, one glass will do it. Congrats!

Whatever a woman needs when she’s giving birth, she should have! Whether it’s wine or whisky!
