To be fair, I've seen many Poirot's in various movies, but never read an Agatha Christie book. I thought this movie was well acted & the story was interesting, but don't know if this Poirot strayed from the book versions. As a stand-alone movie it well-acted and the story engaging, and I therefore didn't dwell on any betrayals of the source material. Pardon me, but I enjoyed it.

Third of Branagh's Agatha Christie adaptations is a real pip, like his previous entries. Good old mystery is really enjoyable. Not a horror film, as the title and a previous reviewer here suggests (the title of Christie's novel was Hallowe'en Party). I also got a real laugh from the review posted immediately below by the irate viewer with the poor spelling. The Irony was hilarious. Thanks buddy! I'm sorry you didn't like the movie, but I appreciated your review 😂

Branagh completely missed the character.

Reminded me of a mix or Clue and knives out. But a boring version. I definitely will forgot everything about it

It's deep and dark. Lots of twists. Interesting setting. Melancholy with an air of unease and creepiness. Smart movie. Yes it will "haunt" you afterwards.

Perfect October movie for the educated crowd!! Was not prepared for the intensity of the haunting effects; very realistic. Also very much appreciated the (unspoken) exploration of Poirot's state of mind, confidence in his own abilities and his personal beliefs in God, spirits, the paranormal. Also appreciated the spots of humor, such as the reason the young couple wanted to relocate to Missouri. Very well-crafted enjoyable movie!!

Like the star actors in odd roles. Have seen better Agatha Christie movies.

I don't know why they changed the title and went so far from the book it's based on. It sounds like a horror story from the title, but it's not. It's a weirdly written detective story, and Kenneth B's portrayal of Poirot is so far from how Agatha Christie wrote him. I hope he doesn't try to do any more of these.

I like spooky murder plots with paranormal overtones or REAL SCARY hauntings, but even though there are some Great actors in this one, it just could NOT hold my interest OR scare me! A week later and I can barely remember ANY of it, which tells me I was not that 'enthralled', shall we say.... OR Scared, which I really Really WANTED to be!

I don't typically like horror movies but I though I would like this one because, well, Kenneth Branaugh and Tina Fey. Nothing about this film was engaging to me. It was probably visually well done and well constructed but I kept thinking about other things and lost the plot. I enjoyed Dumb Money much more, at least it was real.

Of course you our going to have murders in Venice because the poor people can't go any where, they are surrounded by water. if their husband is being obnoxious..you can't go for a walk you have to get in a boat and have some guy with a long stick drive you around. Also the mold problem breathing that in everyday... with can't walk any where your going have homicides. They try to blame it on the spirit world. The spirits have their own problems..they don't even like the place...they are afraid of water. The detective has the right idea he lives on the roof away from the mold and has a line of customers at his door wanting help solving murders. They should call the movie The black mold of Venice. if i had my way i fill the place in with dirt before it becomes the murder capitol of the world. the end

Loved the whole story line. Kept me glued to the screen.

Great movie. Smart, interesting and spooky whodunit.

Loved Kenneth Branagh and Tina fey. Actually all great actors. But felt story could have had more twists and turns

Good movie. Who did it.? Like the show Murder she wrote? Solve the mystery and decide for yourself who is a believer. Definitely holds your interest with a little scare here and there.

It was great acting and the plot was well done.

Well done! Not much to do with Venice except for the canals now & then but it was an excellent Agatha Christie story. Dead people populate too many shows these days. There are indeed three. And I was concerned that it would be scary but it wasn't. It's just good mystery detection as only Christie can do.

I really wanted to like this movie. Having spent a two week vacation in Venice, I wanted to see some beautiful scenery. However, this movie was 99% filmed in a dark old villa. There was nothing suspenseful about the boring story line. I prefer the David Suchet's portrayal of Agatha Cristie's Hercule Poirot on TV. Don't waste your time and money.

I liked everything about movie
