Very very discusted, it is definately the very very worst movie I have ever seen in my 47 years, I feel that I wasted about 3 hours of my life sitting thru it , I would have left but I was with other people.Deniro should send me a refund check in the mail.The actors should be ashamed of themselves to be in such a terrible movie.

dont hate the movie because you dont understand it. after hearing all these things about this movie , i still went to watch it last nite and it was very moving and deep. Great acting and great drama.

Please do not waste your money! I was so disappointed. Such a great cast and they blew it. If they keep choosing these type of roles they will not be a-listers for long. My suggestion do not rent it either. It is so confusing and boring. I really tried to stay awake for this one just to see if it will get better. BUT it DIDN`T!

i was so bored during this movie i was actually thinking about things like quilting instead. 2 hours and 35 minutse into it, i turned and asked the guy next to me if ther ewas any climax in the movie? RIDICULOUS!

This was an OK movie at best. It was VERY long and it also FELT very long. The plot of the movie isn`t clear; there is not a lot of action and the story was not really interesting. Overall, it is not worth the price of the ticket.

great acting, great plot but its 3hrs long and that tiring

Wonderful movie, the acting was superb. A movie that shows just what the CIA is capable of, including it`s fallibility, which takes up a good portion of the spy movie.

I was impressed with the accuracy of the film and its ability to downplay the violence. The cast was excellent and the writing seemed genuine...Excellent overall and I highly recommend it if you like spy films...

Movie was REAL slow, I don`t know how many times I started to dose off. This movie was meant to be read as a novel, not a movie. BOOOOOOOORING

Horrible waste of time

It was so long and bounced around so much it was hard to follow. Staying awake was the chanllenge.

Action? NO. This was a drama. Had the -ads- stated this more clearly I would give it 5/5 - as it is it got 3/5. Although I like all kinds of films - action, comedy, drama, docu, si-fi, ... and yes I even read books - I thought I was in for a good drama/action - not a long drama with little action. Had this been clearly stated - I would have enjoyed it a lot more. It is a very good film.

The movie, while a little slow and long, was alright - Damn`s excellent acting saved the movie. I think De Niro was trying to follow the style of Godfather Part 2 with teh jumpng from past to present - at times it worked, but at times it didn`t - partly because teh characters (Jolie, Damon and Hurt) hardly looked like they aged in the 20 years or so of the movie - people get old over 20 years - even actors. Not a bad flick, but it could have been a lot better.

A thoughtful provocative film which restores my faith that Hollywood does`nt always play to the lowest common denominator.

This film was painful to watch the pace was so slow, it kept jumping from the past, to the present in no particular order. I wouldn`t waste my money seeing in the theatre, I would wait for it to come out on DVD. Also, I am inclined to agree with the comment that the only actor who deserves anykind of recognition for this movie is the tortured russian.

I hate to be critical of a movie with such a strong cast, but this was, truly, the worst movie I have ever seen!! It was extremely slow and beyond boring. In between my attempts to pay attention and stay awake, I planned out the rest of my life. I also managed to figure out what to wear, should I decide to go out on New Year`s eve. It was hardly a thought provoking movie. I wouldn`t even suggest renting it on DVD, as there was absolutely nothing noteworthy about it.

A good film. Not your typical hollywood shoot em up CIA films but well directed and a thought provoking storyline.

With all the major actors i thought this film would be really worth watching, but it turns out it was really slow, really boring, and really not worth my money at all. This isn`t a movie i would recommend at all.

Three hours flew by. This is a movie for people who read books. People who don`t mind spending time letting a story grow and develop. The acting was flawless, the story interesting, there was lots to talk about when it was over. Isn`t it wonderful that occasionally Hollywood remembers that there are viewers who still like plot.

I really enjoyed this film. I agree...not alot of action but I don`t go to the movies to see action films with crappy actors. I would like to see it again just to figure out a few things that have puzzled me. I think Matt Damon did a great job portraying someone in a state of constant paranoia.

A good film editor would get rid of an hour of unnecessary movie. Too much build up of Damon`s character.

Great movie for fans of Tom Clancy or Richard Ludlum - gives a touch of reality to the spy/thriller genre of movie.

Unfortunately average film. It was slow paced as was life at the time. The acting was good but trying to follow the timeline was near impossible. The actors didn`t age over a 20 year period. As for Oscars.. the only one who deserves an Oscar is the Russian who was tortured.

This is the kind of movie that the academy will like and probably will garner some academy noms. For those who commented this being a boring film stick to idiotic and insulting movies like Borat to keep you entertained. The Good Shepherd is for high-brow moving buffs who have the intelligence to enjoy such a movie.
