The "Herald" critic is totally out to lunch. I "loved" this movie! Incredibly beautiful scenery,a heartwarming story and oh, the food--makes you want to catch the next flight to the south of France. If you love a good movie WITHOUT a barrage of bad language, violence and noise, go see it; it's lovely!!!
Very good light hearted film. All the actors gave great performances. Highly reccomended
I saw this movie last week at a preview. This is a must see on your movie list. If you see one movie this summer make it this one. It is funny and you didn't want it to end. Great movie for the whole family.
Great movie!
LOVED this movie. One of the best movies I have seen this year. I will watch it again. All the actors are naturals. Only downside, you will want to go out for Indian food right after the movie.
The movie depicts diverse cultures that find a common ground through their love of food. A light hearted, feel good movie that is appropriate for all ages.
I enjoyed this movie very much. Helen Mirren delivered a solid performance, the story was delightful, and the French countryside was a most delectable setting for a "Foodie" flick. Although the movie touched upon the issues of racism and classism, I felt these could have been further explored to provide the audience with a richer and more thought provoking context for the relationships that developed between the characters. I did feel the movie could have been more engrossing if a higher level of conflict and tension had been delivered. I left with a feeling of contentment and wish I could have savored one or two of the dishes featured in the film.
Fabulous feel good movie! Now I want to move to France and learn to cook. Cinematography was stunning and acting was superb.
Very good and witty
I had already read the book and I was not disappointed with the movie. I felt they did a good job portraying the characters. My husband did not want to go with me but after seeing the film he was glad he came.I would enjoy seeing it again. Big thumbs up.
I found this movie quite entertaining. Home is where the bite is!! Great movie. Im going to take my mom to see it when it comes out.
I really enjoyed the plot and found the characters easy to relate to. It was fun to watch. I can't wait to watch it again with my husband. Perfect for a date night!
Funny movie throughout and great characters.
Very Funny!
Very entertaining. Enjoyed the movie very much. Thank you.
A very enjoyable, heart-warming movie. While the story (certainly, the happy ending) might have been a bit predictable, the excellent acting and the gorgeous cinematography more than made up for it. Everything, from the food to the scenery to the fresh faces of the young cast members, was lovingly filmed. I highly recommend this movie!
A very good family movie. Helen Mirren gives an excellent performance, as always, and the young stars Manish Dayal and Charlotte le Bon are perfect for their parts. This film will no doubt go down with the other great movies about food. Babette's Feast, Like Water for Chocolate and Chocolat. Very much worth seeing.
We really enjoyed the movie. It was funny, heartwarming, and a great way to spend two hours with my daughter-in-law. Thank you.
Very entertaining! Helen Mirren is excellent as usual!
A very good movie. Sentimental and funny in parts.
Loved the movie. Great stories about family, finding friendship and trusting you instincts. Loved watching about real people and not a superhero with special effect. Made me smile. Would recommend to a friend.
I loved this feel good movie. The scenery in the movie was beautiful! The acting was wonderful ~ very realistic and well done! It was a drama with comedy mixed in.
Great story plot with good combination of humour, drama and emotions throughout the movie!
A "Must See Movie" Excellent casting, superb direction. The plot and story kept you "in it" the entire time. Lots of great humour, excellent character development, screenplay was adapted from the book with perfection. I truly hope the "Award Gods" shine on this fantastic movie.
The movie was a nice story with some very good performances. I enjoyed the message the film delivers and the food in the film makes me want to go out and eat right away, mmmmmm
touching story of two different cultures eventually overlooking their differences.
Luscious french countryside and sumptious food prepared and displayed with passion. Romance portayed with simpicity and sweetness. Lovely and enjoyable movie.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and I will be surprised if this movie does not get nominated for an award. There was the right combination of humour, drama, and emotion to make this movie appeal to anyone who likes a happy, feel good, kind of movie.
Amazing story. Loved every minute of it
When you have Steven Spielberg directing, you know you will have some superb cinematography. And, of course Oprah always loves a good story and this movie was intelligently written. This movie is refreshingly funny and poignant. Helen Mirren as a prim French woman is ok in her role but when she duels Papa, played by Om Puri, he absolutely steals the show with his one line zingers. Highly recommend seeing this movie
I thought this was a very beautiful movie, great acting, beautifully scripted, and had its funny moments. Quite enjoyable!
Incredible move. Definitely will recommend friends to see.
A great movie with a fantastic musical score partnered with a good story. Overall this comedy-drama may not wow you, but it can capture your heart throughout the journey.
Entertaining movie Great for foodies
A delightful movie that tickles the visual sense and creates a desire to embrace new experiences and reinforce family connections. Perfectly cast and beautifully scenic.
Passion is the "Spice of Life" and The Hundred-Foot Journey proves that tenfold. A story of tragedy, a passion for cooking and the struggles of a family in a foreign land shows you that no matter where you are from, what struggles you have endured that love can overcome. Based on the Richard C Morais novel, The Hundred-Foot Journey is about how the hundred-foot distance between a new Indian kitchen and a traditional French one can represent the divide between different cultures and desires. Destiny defines these characters. The charming Hassan soon finds his cooking destiny and a life worth living and we are all in for the ride. David Fernandes
A beautiful story! Great performances by everyone. Don't go see it on an empty stomach. A must see for everyone who enjoy food!
A good family oriented movie that contains a little adventure, intrigue and romance. It is worth watching again.
I enjoyed this movie. It was funny with a touch of class. The interactions between 'Papa' and 'Madame Mallory' was hilarious. Om Puri's acting was excellent, so was Helen Mirren. I enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the lovely music, and learned something new about French cuisine.
This was a wonderful movie. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it...we are telling all our friends and family to go see it when it comes out
