Peter Jackson stayed as true to the books as possible and the movie was great. Gave it 4 stars mainly because the cinematography at the end was a little sketchy.

Food for the soul, heart and mind. Right off the scale - 5 outta 5 stars. PEople clapped at the end [rare as the blue mooon in Canada] - that is almost everyone clapped [all ages] - UNHEARD OF. That is how good this movie is. Take LOR 2 and take it up 2 notches and you have just a glimmer of how good this movie and story really are. GO SEE IT.
out of the three movies this one stayed closest to the books kind of but all in all its great and ya its great

if you are going to spend the amount of money required to see a movie today, there are more intelligent choices, and probably more entertaining ones. It seems to me the only reason people like this movie is because it`s the end of the story, but considering the book sales, they already know it. Also, Jackson doesn`t seem to know the meaning of concise. We don`t need to know every little detail from the novel, film can`t be made that way. Give it up.
Trite tripe. Get a life. No one reads anymore. And if you want scenery, take a trip.
This movie is a must see. It was simply amazzing. The acting was fanominal and the cinamitography was incredible....Truly the best epic story to grace the Silver Screen.
the entire series is a benchmark for film making, and Jackson has set the bar very high. The books are amazing and the films are three times better. I would like to send all the snarky critics to siberia for hacking on the film, since it was not jackson`s story but tolkien`s masterpiece.

The return of the king was once more a masterpeice. It was visually amazing. I found only the ending was a little long. A brilliant ending to the triligy. I would rate this movie to be a 4and half stars. choppy
This was the greatest yet a true representation of the Novel and Masterpiece of Imagery, if your a fan of the series or want to see the end of a long journey for these characters you will not be disappointed with any aspect of this movie. Given the long lenth Peter Jackson was able to make this a brilliant end to a magnificent triology. Bravo Mr. Jackson.
