horrible movie...wouldn`t recommend it

A love story with lots of potential - how could you go wrong with an Ang Lee film? But this movie does go wrong, from the moment these characters are alone together. I didn`t know whether to be more angry with Lee for discrediting intimate STRAIGHT male relationships, or to be angry with him for trivializing gay male relationships. Lee does not appear to realize the message that this movie could convey to the average movie viewer, who is not as well versed and comfortable with this topic as a gay man or woman might be. what a sad story - left me feeling heartbroken when it was over.

I read the short story before watching the movie. The movie honestly portrays the original story. It was very beautiful yet sad. The actors do a great job. The only drawback I found was the pace of the movie..which was quite slow.

WOW, this movie was complete garbage. It was a movie that is indeed destined for oscar, right up there with Clint Eastwood`s Unforgiven (another huge disappointment). Oscar appears to be reserved now for those movies that people feel they must like because the critics favour it. This movie was incredibly slow and boring. I was praying for death, my death by the end of the film. Even the scenario of the gay relationship was so poorly handled that it was not believable. Hands down, one of the worst films I have ever seen and I love a film driven by the plot and character development both of which were completely alien to this poor excuse

such a strong and captivating movie but such a tragedy, the nudity was done very tastefully, if you are afread to watch it you are missing out!

This movie is absolutely beautiful. The cinematography was gorgeous and the natural beauty of the mountains together with the simplicity of the rest of the sets brought the emotional portrayals to the edge. The acting was fabulous by both Jake and Heath, the emotions raw and heartfelt, and it makes the point clear -- give in to love no matter what the rest of the world may think. This film is the best I`ve seen in many years and I see them all. An Oscar contender for sure.

I think other movies have too much straight sex. its comparable. and there was only really one! and it was wayyyyy less pornographic then straight sex scenes!
