The acting was well done and the scenery was magnificent. I was sorry to see that just about everyone in the movie was smoking. Although it was a sign of the times that everyone did seem to smoke in the 60`s, I don`t think it was necessary to see it in every scene.

i love it i was the best movie in a very long time

Moral Intolerance? If we reject the themes of a movie like this it is moral intolerance? Some people just don`t get it. Who is allowed to be in love and engage in the acts of love? Man and woman? As has been deemed moral from culture to culture? Or man and man, woman and woman? As is now being pushed by a select few with loud voices? As being pushed by Hollywood? The condition is love right? Who cares about the gender let them be in love, right? Let me ask what is next? Adults and teens? Uncle and niece? Why not 3 Men and 2 Women who wish to be partners? If they are in love it is allowed right? If not then they scream INTOLERA

I thought it was a great movie. Cried at the end. I`d say this is the best movie of 2006.

Why does the Oscar commitee always nominate movies that are the most boring? I am an avid movie watcher and this film just did not touch me in the way I thought it would based on the reviews. I found myself thining of what groceries to buy while watching this movie, it just didn`t keep me interested. It also did not strike me as tender love story at all, it was a passionate performance by the actors, but not oscar worthy.

I saw Brokeback Mountain last night and I`m still in awe of the film. The relationshiop between Ennis and Jack is one that transcends sexual preference. The fact that they`re gay cowboys will only get people in the door out of curiosity...but it`s the love affair between these two souls that makes the film. Gay? Straght? Who cares. If you`ve ever been love or want to, go see Brokeback Mountain.

Monday, January 9, 10:26:30 AM

Very poorly done. Cannot understand why it`s nominated for anything but a Razzie.

Monday, January 9, 09:25:23 AM

gay gay gay.....that`s all i can say about this gay movie. what the hell is going on. GAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monday, January 9, 08:33:27 AM

My partner and i saw this movie last friday --- quite enjoyed it --- its about time -- was my reaction, that they provided a sensitive gay themed love story --- not something that is based on husslers or aids. The story was believeable and it warmed my heart as well as frustrating at how trapped they were. several people left the movie theatre part way through it --- i guess it pays to read what the movie is about before going. i highly recomment this movie!

Best movie of this year and last.... hands down and I`ve seen A LOT of good movies

Sunday, January 8, 07:15:37 PM

LOVED IT!

Sunday, January 8, 12:16:27 PM

5 Stars. I cannot forget the haunting and heart breaking performance of the two leads. It is a sad commentary on the state of our world`s supposed moral intolerance that we are sickened by the love between two people. Why aren`t we equally repulsed by the brutality of sending our youth to war or watch them kill one another in our streets. Should we not rejoice that FINALLY our culture can be accepting of unconditional love and acknowledge how far we have come- but then again, we have a long distance I fear to go.

A friend and I see almost every movie that comes out. Generally if the critics rave over it, we find it so-so. I just couldn`t figure out why anyone would gush over this movie. My friend fell asleep. I kept wondering, is it going to get good soon? It just didn`t. The saving grace was the beautiful scenery. People say this is a tender love story. I didn`t see much tenderness. It was just rough and crude, disgusting and pathetic. It would be a real shame if a movie like this would win awards.

Sunday, January 8, 12:34:06 AM

touching movie, i really like it

Sunday, January 8, 12:25:12 AM

This is a GREAT movie....those that are born w/ `permanent` blinders on will not get it..but then they never will. Powerful love story, it coincidentally happens to be between two men....how very brave of Ang Lee to bring it to the screen. Genius needs no explanations...

Saturday, January 7, 08:47:55 PM

You just have to watch it for yourself. you`ll either love it or hate it, but watch it and then judge. if you love it, it will stay with you for days, you feel so attached to the characters brokeback mountain and the notebook are two of the most romantic movies of our time

Saturday, January 7, 01:30:19 PM

STUPID!!THEY`RE GAY!!!

Saturday, January 7, 12:55:36 PM

Genious

Saturday, January 7, 12:10:34 PM

This is a beautiful film of a beautiful love story. Personally, I want to see more great gay and lesbian movies with great story lines. Come on writers, directors, film makers out there-give me more, whether it maybe independant or hollywoodish. Bring it on! I`m tired of B-movie crappy scripts with pour acting that stereotype gay and lesbian lives. BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN was a wonderful, loving ride through great love story. Thank You...

I go to several movies a week. Most disappoint me. This is the best movie that I have seen in years. It was real , raw , and superbly honest . Ennis` struggle with himself was increadibly haunting and will stay with me for a long time. I was amazed that two heterosexual men could carry these roles off so well. I saw Casanova the same day, and left thinking that Heath Ledger couldn`t act his way out of a paper bag...then I saw Brokeback Mountain. They both deserve recognition for these risky roles. Five stars, hands down ,from a tough critic.

Saturday, January 7, 01:18:25 AM

Ok, you have got to be kidding me. This was just so bad, for any of you that have read the short story... and anyone else with any decency. My good opinions have not diminished in regards to the talent of either actor in either leading role. But this was not love... nor did it come close to gay love. regardless of the time period. The movie was way to negative... everyone was pissed off, the only mellow characters were the sheep! comon two stars at best.

Friday, January 6, 09:03:35 PM

Brokeback is a love story at its finest...it`s subtle but it hits you hard when u realize that these two men managed to find each other midst the loneliness on the mountains, and yet they`re powerless to do anything about it because of bigots in this world who can`t open up the mind to love.

Friday, January 6, 08:42:49 PM

This was a pretty good movie, not as good as everyone told me it would be, but definitely still worth seeing. A little depressing though, so be warned...

Friday, January 6, 07:13:57 PM

Should not be in main streem media

Friday, January 6, 04:43:05 PM

This is neither a gay movie nor a cowboy movie--it is a love story. And love stories don`t get any better than this. I am still haunted by the raw emotion exemplified by Ennis and Jack, and the agony that each character had to endure. Heath Ledger is a marvel to watch, and deserves every accolade and award that comes his way. Five stars!

Friday, January 6, 03:56:35 PM

This movie is more of a tragedy than a love story. There is a reason why society is falling and it`s because families that make up the foundation of it are collapsing. This movie is a good example of that. It`s really about giving into temptation and abandoning responsability. Very sad.

Friday, January 6, 12:59:54 PM

Blech. Still barfing, just thinking about having been dragged to see this by my girlfriend three days ago.

Friday, January 6, 12:41:53 PM

It is a fabulous film. Jake should recieve an Oscar for this....I especially like the way he chooses films that challenge us to re-think our molds. The film connected the audience with each and every character and their emotional development.

Friday, January 6, 12:27:37 PM

BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN IS ONE OF THE YEARS BEST & MOST BEAUTIFUL FILMS!!!

Friday, January 6, 12:08:08 PM

I just laughed through the entire movie

Friday, January 6, 11:55:27 AM

I would have preferred more male intimacy in the film so as to convey their true love for each other

Friday, January 6, 11:29:35 AM

Critics always love the movies that the general public hate, I`m not surprised they love this pile of garbage.

Friday, January 6, 11:28:41 AM

Everything about this film is disgusting and I`m disappointed at the actors for being in it.

Friday, January 6, 11:28:00 AM

Hated it. just hated it.

Friday, January 6, 10:28:52 AM

About time men loving like this was shared with the rest of us.

Friday, January 6, 09:07:52 AM

Hollywood trying to make homosexuals a normal way of like. My girlfriend wanted to see it, what a waste of time and made me made.

Thursday, January 5, 11:05:06 PM

There is hardly any movies that can evoke emotions and actually mean something at the same time. The thing about Brokeback Mountain is that it`s not a message film. It`s just an amazing love story that everyone should see. Hands down, the best movie of the year.

Thursday, January 5, 07:21:15 PM

The performances alone make it worth seeing; incredible work by both leads.

Thursday, January 5, 06:15:43 PM

Amazing move...I would pay to see it again!

Thursday, January 5, 01:08:41 PM

It is my opinion that this story is truly beautiful and still so frustrating at the same time. It gets to the heart of a homophobic society we are all forced to live in. It is truly a heartbreaking tale of how intolerant society can be and most times are. With such a tiny role, Jacks mother had more of an affect on me than any other actor. Her unspoken acceptance of her sons choices in this era(1960`s-1970`s) of ignorance and hatred was so well done that I have a hard time getting her out of my mind. It is truly an example of a mother`s unconditional love in such a redneck era. Overall, I thought this was brilliant. Never overboard, leaving t
