Really loved this movie! Great special effects, especially the train scene. Loved the overall themes of family, friendships and forgiveness.

great movie! my 2nd fav besides "avatar", however, some questions were left unanswered. but the rest makes up 4 it! 5 stars+++++++++++

I was expecting something special, trusting a Spielberg production would be good, but was very, very disappointed. The story is 99% focused on kids, not the alien, which means you are never told what it is, where it came from, and you never really see what it looks like! So you won't be disappointed like I was, only expect a boy-coming-of-age story (yes, another one - yawn) with no real depth or context to it, haphazard special effects that you have seen a million times before, and a sappy, sloppy story and complacent ending. I wish I could get my money back. :(

great movie an epic thrill

Amazing! Although the cast was mainly youth, the storyline and emotions conveyed in the film were timeless. This was one of the best films of the year!!! I was reminded of the classic film the GOONIES because of the themes of friendship, love, family, and adventure that both films contained. LOVED IT!!!

Well written, great actors, fast action, great family movie (but a little scary for the really young). I thought character development was very well done.

Got to say, just saw this and it was really well done. A more grown up version of E.T. It is well worth the money to see it on big screen, unlike some of the movies that have come out.

A cheesy movie with poor plot and character development. You're left with lots of questions in the end that aren't answered. It could have been far better written and edited. Too long for such an incomplete storyline! And I wouldn't take kids to see it if they are the least bit anxious. Lots of cheap scary moments.

Amazing movie....I love the part where Luke found out Darth Vader was his father.

With JJ Abrams and Steven Spielberg?!? What can one say but this is a wonderful movie with a good mix of action, humour and humanity.

Wonderful movie for families. The cast was exceptional. A few editing flaws at the end that made it a bit cheesy, but we really enjoyed the movie. It was nice to see something interesting that wasn't sleezy.

Best family friendly movie we have seen in a long time. Wholesome enough for the young and exciting enough for the adults. Has a good story line, special effects, and character development to keep your interst. The cast was great. Kyle Chandler was perfect for this part. We loved it.

This movie went from Super Gr8t to Suoer bad. The last 20 minutes was a real cheese fest! Please don't waste your money on this one

This film just blew me away! And the incredible acting from the youth actors , oh, just an astounding film! A must-see for anyone who has ever walked on Earth!

What a garbage! Fell asleep four times. As it turned out all the buzz was about a giant alien spider having trouble patching together his spaceship out of old toasters. Masters of the Universe next to this is an intelligent, brilliant and breathtaking masterpiece! The best part of this boring experience was over before it began - the HP7 trailer. Come to think of it, even the Transformers trailer was more entertaining.

good storyline, a bit gory

LOVED IT! Best suspense kept shocking me through-out; but also had excellent character development and plot. For newbies - the youth were great actors - and Elle stole the show! Will see it again and again.

Holy Madness this film was spectacular! The production value was immense and the acting was a-class. Great performances by the youth actors and the visual effects were crazy! A classic sci-fi thriller! 5 Stars!

I liked this movie though it was alittle bit too long.

This is a pretty good movie, but i could of waited for the cheap seats. I would recommend this movie to everyone but if there`s something else playing go see something else. rb

Interesting but simple story well played by the kids, enjoyed it, worth the see, plus has a mini-extra in the middle of the end-credits (funny). 4/5 Stars

Having grown up in the 70's this film not only flooded me with nostalgia but could have been a page out of my life. I had the Super 8 camera as a kid that me and my now deceased brother experimented with. It brought a tear to my eye. I was throughly entertained by this film, although the ending seemed abrupt. The boy confronting the alien and the transference of each other's loss and pain could have been shown more than it was - a quick scene of the boy and his mom and a quick scene of the alien and maybe his family would have tied it all in a nice, neat ending. We can only assume this is what happened. It would have had a more emotional punch. Overall tho I loved the movie.

Great movie, don't miss this, it is like the combination of district 9 and cloverfield!

MUST-WATCH MOVIE!!!

Great acting from the kids, special effects were great. There were some really magical scenes that were brilliantly directed. The plot was underdeveloped and really simple though. The ending was really sappy and and predictable.I loved it except for the last few scenes.

AMAZING MOVIE! I thought this movie wasn't going to be very good, but I went with my friends anyway. It was amazing...from the beginning to the end and every part in between! Everything that went into it was absolutely fantastic!
