The Big Sick

I did enjoy it, but thought it would be funnier. Maybe I was so tired going to this movie that I missed a lot. My friend thought it was really good though.

This movie has everything - laughs, tears, fears. Best part is that it is based on real life events. Go see it!

Funny and sweet.

In spite of that terrible title (which seems to be designed to drive people away), it's surprisingly good. Unfortunately it introduces several characters who are quite interesting; but, it can't seem to resolve how to deal with them. And it kept stumbling into promising situations that it didn't have the wherewithal to explore further. For instance, I would've liked to know more about all those prospective Pakistani brides who were smart & funny & elegant. And those poor kids slaving away hopelessly with tired & terrible routines in the comedy clubs. And why did the hero absolutely need to have a blonde white woman who was written as being a bitch anyway. I would've liked an explanation.

I'm so very glad I was able to this movie. It is everything promised and more. The actors were well chosen and the chemistry was obvious. I really enjoyed learning something from this. Absolutely a must see.

I found it was really funny. I enjoyed how it emphasizes cultural differences in a funny way and it was not shy to poke fun at issues facing society today. The ending was predictable but cute

The Big Sick was a feel good comedy I've been waiting for, for a while. It's hits the mark of a perfect balance between drama, comedy, and romance. This movie is one of a few I'd recommended everyone watch!

Funny and endearing!

The Big Sick is an unique story that's for sure. It's amazing how little people may know about the traditions/culture of East Indian people.

I went to this movie expecting it to be my typical cheesy rom-com. It was a lot more than I expected and I found myself relating to the struggles Kumail felt as an immigrant living in a western country. I also understood Emily's standpoint and am happy with the way the movie turned out.

Enjoyed it a lot more than I was expecting to! Not a traditional romantic comedy, it showed a lot more of the family dynamics involved in a new relationship, not to mention getting into interesting detail about cultural clashes that can occur in such settings. Highly recommend.

A perfect date movie. Very funny, and very heart-warming.

The movie was funnier than I expected. Don't want to give the plot away to those who haven't watched the movie yet. But for those who like watching comedies, this movie will not disappoint, it is a very enjoyable movie, a pleasant way to spend a few hours to get some good laughs. I was lucky to attend an advance screening with a surprising appearance of Kumail and Emily for Q&A after the screening. That was definitely an unexpected sweet topping on the cake!

Hilarious and heartwarming.

Kumail did a great job, and I enjoyed seeing Ray Romano on film. I knew nothing of Kumail until I saw him perform at JFL42 in Toronto last year, and I've been a fan ever since. It was great to see a film that depicted all the forces in his life that make him who he is, and the struggles that he had evolving into himself. Definitely recommend this film to everyone.
