it was the most amazing movie ever. all the characters a great. amazing random moments. johnny depp brings absolute great character to the whole movie. it was the best. cant wait to see it over and over.

I thought the movie was weird. It wasn`t the greatest, I highly recommend that you wait to rent this movie. Johnny Depp did a good job on playing Willy Wonka. He was funny, but overall just really really weird.

well i expected better but it wasn`t that bad i felt as the director started gettin lazy in teh plot because it was very boring

Very different approach than one would expect for a movie based on a children`s book, but not at all different for director Tim Burton. This movie expands on the original tale my Roald Dahl adding an element of unpredictability throughout the film to keep you watching. This movie explores in more depth the mysterious and intriguing character of Willy Wonka through the wonderful writing of John August. The songs may not be as catchy, and the mono-faced oompa loompa`s may not be as unique, but the movie is definitely one of this year`s best, and you should see it if only for the performance of its actors.

I thought the movie was great - fun for parents and children. It was close enough to the original to feel comfortable, but different enough to keep you interested. I agree with some of the other comments though, my only disappointment was the oompa loompa`s - they could have done much more with them (him).

I purposely chose not to watch the old one before I watched this one cos` I`ve had enough experience of comparing original and remake and the remake is always worse. This movie is awesome!!! Tim Burton did a great job except for the opaloompas. Johnny Depp is great!! And whoever thinks that Johnny Depp`s Willy Wonka is remotely based on Michael Jackson is practically blind. I don`t even see traces of it!

... (con’t) And the oompa-loompas also came up short (get it? Came up "short"? *long pause* O, nevermind) in another area, perhaps the most important one of all: they weren`t in the least bit fun. They weren`t entertaining. I don`t think the guy cracked a smile even once in the entire film! He kind of chanted but didn`t really sing, and they digitally altered his voice to be either really high or really low so that it seemed like there were a number of them taking turns. And the extent of his dancing was marching in a circle and waving his arms in the air. I think he may have hopped on one foot a few times, too.

Ok, one of the main reasons I even went to the movie was to see the Oompa-loompas, and let me tell you, I was MUCHO disappointed! First of all, thanks to lazy ol` Tim Burton we have to take the `s` off the end of that word. It`s just "oompa-loompa" now; unpluralized on account of the fact that there was only one guy who was duplicated using the computer. And even that wasn`t done very well, so it looked really bad. And then there were the outrageous size proportions! One minute, an oompa-loompa would be up to Johnny`s elbow, and in the next shot they were only up to his knee! It was quite pathetic, really. Johnny Depp is wonderful, the movie is entertaining, but if you are going to base a movie off of a book, stay ture to the book, or make an original movie.

honestly I thought it was alot better than the original. anyways, i didn`t think johnny depp`s character was at all like micheal jackson. i thought he was funny.

Like many people commented, I didn`t like the Oompaloompa, and the songs weren`t good. Johnny Depp was good as Willy Wonka, but storyline wise, I liked the original much more...but it`s ture, watching the movie made me wanna eat chocolate :P

amazing.. truly amazing... and when has a movie ever followed a book to a tee... I`m going to see it again with my daughter.. as for Depp, another great one! Hats off to you...sir.

This movie is one of the best movies of the year. Johnny Depp creates a wonderful character that is not only funny, but believable. Many people are saying he is creepy in this role, but he helps provide some insight into the characters inner demons and shows how socially awkward Willy Wonka is due to his seclusion. The movie is colorful, magical and heart warming with a far better story and acting than the original! 5 stars!

A waste of time ....

This was one of my all time favourites this year so far. OMG Johnny Depp was so good at that part. I love the way he makes his part his own!! Its such a great movie i want to see it again. I give 5*!!! Great Job Johnny Depp you were wonderful!!

stupidest movie ever

First of all to you illiterates, the "india thing" was in the book. READ A BOOK and get some education!! Secondly, the first movie was much closer to the book. Third, I was expecting much better from Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. The character of Willy was totally off and the oompa loompa was weird and the songs not good. They really tried to modernize this movie and shoudn`t have. Classics are classic for a good reason. It still had a lot of good parts. It was only okay, not wonderful.

The reason why this movie is "so different and weird" as some are saying, is because it follows more true to the original story by Roald Dahl. However, I found it EXTREMELY entertaining and funny. Johnny Depp proves (once again) that he is a very talented and versatile actor who can take on almost any type of character and make it believable. The other actors were also very entertaining. I definitely recommend this movie for anyone - young and old, believers and skepticals. I am buying this one for sure.

Amazing...absoultly amazing...the orginal i have seen a million times and of course its better but this one was better than i ever imagined...it was totally woth the 11 bucks i paid...fantastic

I liked the movie and I didn`t.. one of the grandma`s was a ditz and she was hilarious.. The movie was funny, dark, original, but it lacked excitment. I`m not saying don`t see it, but don`t expect it to be as exciting as it looks. I`d give it 3/5.

Regretebly I must say that I was very dissappointed with this movie. I am a huge fan of Johnny Depp, yet I felt that his character seemed very cold and weird. There are many scenes in the movie which did not seem to make much sense (India?) also this remake does not capture the same magical essence the original did. I would recommened watching the movie but not going into it with too high of expectations.

I absolutly loved this movie, I am a huge fan of both Johnny Depp and Freddie Highmore. Having met Highmore before the movie ( ok i didn`t meet him but i did walk within 10 feet of him and exchanged hello`s)i was looking foward to this movie and absolutly loved it!!!!!!!!

I personally did not like this movie because the original was so good that nothing can really compare
