It does not exceed my expectation but the latest 3D technologies really make it look better than the other Star Wars Movie.

Stop criticizing people who criticize others! Don't you know that criticizing others is the bedrock of civilization?!

Stop criticizing people's English writing ability in Tribute.ca because this is nothing related to what they want to express their opinion in this Forum. You will get yourself "a fresh breath of air" if you stop BULLYING about people's English grammar because Canada is a multi-culture country which accepts new immigrants from people all over the world. They are not professors who teach English, neither they are coming from a English speaking country. Being a Nice Friendly Canadian, instead of criticizing people's English standard, you should try your best to help all those people to get into our society and live a happy life in Canada. Shame on you as being a Canadian in this Good Country.

Expected more action, not a bunch of seniors running around ! Two thumbs down.

This movie was made for children. The story did not flow or come together well. Perhaps they should have the force awaken in a 100 years in the future and could have saved the 30 million for Harrison Ford. If I could get a refund I would.

Liked the movie some of the cast just did not fit properly, the storm trooper acting was in question. The story hopefully will improve. Not Bad, not great, too short of a story. Film needed to be extended to have a better ending.

I am 100% on board with the person who commented on people's grammar. It's pathetic to have to sit here and read other people's reviews on this movie or any movie for that matter when they cannot write a proper sentence using the proper punctuation. In today's society with all the technology we have and spellcheck there is no excuse for poor grammar or punctuation. Finally, somebody spoke up! A breath of fresh air

This movie got me hot for Princess Leia all over again. Four stars.

I really hope Picard is in the next one.

Lots of fun! Star Wars has returned as the fun yet tragic saga of the dark and light within and without. New dame is wonderful and lots of old friends come to visit us on the big screen. I might see this again on the big screen. Definitely recommending to all to join in on this new Awakening.

Ho Ho Ta, In Chinese means very good to watch it. This movie has a lot of actions, very entertaining.

Deja vu. It is a rewrite of the first two Star Wars movies. Nothing new in the story. Entirely predictable. Average special effects. Huge disappointment. This should have been so much better. It is set up for the next movie which I will wait to see on tv.

I totally agreed with one of the viewer request the guy not to criticize people's grammar when they write the reviews. Furthermore, I would like to add one more request to that gentleman, please do not say "Jesus Christ" from your mouth as OUR LORD JESUS LOVE EVERY ONE.

I couldn’t take it anymore so I walked out have way through. Other posts are so right on; just a remake of the old star wars movies. Too many dumb one liners that took away from the serious nature of many scenes. I mean how can they expect to hold our attention when everyone is cracking jokes while death is raining down on everyone around them? Want to see a great movie? Go and see Quentin Tarantino’s new movie called the Hateful eight. Haven’t seen it yet but every movie this guy directs is a great movie.

It must be a stubborn old guy yelling at people's grammar for no reason. Canada is a multi-culture country and people from all other countries are force to write and speak English because this is the official language. Vice Versa, if you are moving to live in China or Russia, do you feel good when some one yelling at your simple Chinese or Russian language. I'm giving a one star rating; but not on the movie. Do you know what annoys the hell out of me? People who write a review and DO NOT proof read their comments before submitting them. Jesus Christ! You pick apart this movie (or any other movie for that matter), why not put that effort into your grammar and THEN comment on a movie.

Force Awakens? Really? More like Force Recycled! Plot line, scenes, and equipment are all too familiar. Didn't notice any creativity. Made for merchandising all those toys and games. Beware - there are slow spots. The heroine is no Princess Leia; the character lacks substance; also she is so scrawny that I had difficulty believing that she could beat up several creatures with a quarter-staff. The 3D effects are lack-lustre. Some attempts at humour. The bad guys were not evil enough; they seemed to be apologetic for being sinister. And if you are a first timer into Star Wars, see the original three episodes; the best ones in the series.

I loved the way the old plot was woven into this new movie in a refreshing and familiar way. It was wonderful to see former characters looking their age ( Chewy and CP3O never age!).

Great movie for us old timers who enjoyed the first 3.

This is the Star Wars movie I've been waiting for, fun, action packed, It has that a new hope feel to it which I loved and Solo steals the show with his great one liners that was missing from the last three movies. No Jar Jar not funny junk here. Some great 3D shots also that come right off the screen and a lot of questions that needs to be answered in the next two films makes me want to go see it again and wanting more.

The Brockville, Ontario, Canada cinema complex, theatre 3, has a focus problem from halfway up the screen to the top, making the Star Wars viewing experience a consistently blurry one. I went to see it twice, once 3D, once 2D, both times in theatre 3, both times very blurry in backdrop. Problem is screen itself. Something wrong with it. Very disappointed with theatre, cannot properly comment on movie because of it. Very poor behaviour for theatre management to hide this problem and destroy our experience.

It was very slow in many spots. You would think in the future they had a way to keep people looking younger. The hype far exceeded the movie. For those too young to have experienced the previous movies in the franchise, this would have been pretty good. Nothing really new.

I'm not baised but most of thr movies was thr took parts of the old star wars movies and put together to make this it was off got boring at times not enough actions . Overhyped period. Grt some originality no need to cut and paste from other movies and please feed these kids look frail as a villain and jedi. Humor good at times but it's star wars should be more serious film.

My husband and just saw this movie tonight. I saw that it rated a 8.7 so it has to be good right? if your old like me and went to the 1977 Star Wars movie over and over again you will see that basically it's the same movie with a splash of empire strikes back and a varied subplot. Harrison ford was excellent and Po and Finn were very likeable. There were a lot of funny jokes. However, these movie does not deserve the hype it is getting. I wish i had waited for the DVD. In a word totally predictable. In fact i pretty much figured out the storyline of the next three movies.

I see a lot of complaints that the plot is derivative. Bah humbug - ggod guys go up against bad guys - what are you expecting? I thought the new leads were charismatic and did a great job. Lots of humor, and Harrison Ford really brought back that old Original Trilogy charm. If I had one negative about the viewing experience, it would not be with the movie itself, but all the freaking commercials before it started. Be prepared to stomach a good 20-plus minutes of ads for cars, cellphones, gum, batteries, and other assorted nonsense.

Movie was a bit slow at times, but it was because they need to give you some back story. Overall great start. Definitely a build up to further movies.
