For the third consecutive weekend, Sony's Bad Boys for Life claimed the top spot at the box office.

The third adventure for Detectives Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) brought in an additional $17.7 million over Super Bowl weekend to push its 17-day domestic total to $148.1 million. This represents a new high for the franchise, surpassing Bad Boys II's $138.6 million domestic total. With this strong performance and its stinger scene at the end, a fourth entry is now more than likely. Let's just hope the wait isn't as long.

Finishing in second place again was Universal's WWI drama, 1917. The Sam Mendes-directed film continued its strong run leading up to the Oscars, bringing in another $9.7 million during the three-day weekend. Over its 40 days of release between its limited and expanded run, the film has now brought in $119.2 million domestically.

Also staying put from last weekend was Universal's Dolittle. Finishing in third place again, the family adventure film continues to do better than expected, even if it is well shy of matching its production budget. Dolittle earned another $7.7 million over the weekend, lifting its 17-day domestic total to $55.2 million.

Debuting in fourth place was Gretel & Hansel. This new interpretation of the Brothers Grimm folklore tale starring IT and IT: Chapter Two's Sophia Lillis opened to just $6.1 million, placing it below both of this month's earlier horror offerings in Underwater and The Turning, which both earned $7 million during their opening weekends.

Rounding out the top five was Guy Ritchie's latest film, The Gentlemen. The action crime film added an additional 510 screens this weekend, helping push its three-day weekend haul to $6 million. Thanks to solid word of mouth and its suave and charismatic ensemble cast, the film's 10-day total now stands at $20.4 million. ~Paolo Maquiraya
