a waste of money!!

this movie just sucked!!! so much missing from the story!!

just another trilogy cash cow that trashes a good book. so much missing from the story!!

alot of these 5 star ratings were made in anticipation of this movie, on the strength of the book.. most people who have seen it are greatly disappointed, i know i was!!

hurting movie.. maybe if you're so bored of harry and the twilight series, this will seem good, but it wasn't for me

i liked it.....i loved the fact that this movie didn't have the over throwing of a governing society but the simple victory of a game stacked against the underdog.....

the movie was very disappointing. ruined alot of the scenes (regardless of the fact that a lot of the detail was missing), also i think they assumed that everybody read the book because if you haven't then alot of the scenes will look random to you

poor follow-up to patriot games.

too many details missings and not enough character building. not sure if someone who hasn't read the book will actually get it. actually, i know there is just too much missing to make the movie a real success.

best reality movie so far. very different, so if you're into vampires and robots - don't bother wasting your time. the hunger games truly reflects the gap between the wealth and poverty and shows very clear how things are really are.

very boring, they should not try to make sci-fi love stories, don't waste your money on this, one of the worst ones yet !

the only thing scarier would be watching the leafs on a saturday night...

the movie's ultimate downfall is not casting sofia vergara in the lead.

finally a realistic movie that didn't depend on wizards or vampires or werewolves, but had an actual storyline. good movie!!

i am a high school teacher and i enjoy watching movies. this is one of the best movies i've watched this year. it is definitely not about teens killing each other. there is a much more depth and meaning behind the whole plot. for those people who hate it, try to understand the story before judging.

did the book justice, especially in comparison to all the other books turned to movies

I was sickened by the book, so I won't be paying money to see this piece of crap.

humanity at it's best...if only we could do this in our world on a larger scale. it would solve a lot of problems and bring our need for reality tv to the next level. like a lot of idiots on here say, it's not about kids killing kids but the story between them which of course we would see if we did the same thing in reality too right? of course this wasn't a movie that used kids killing kids to get more people to see it...otherwise they would have used an older age base now wouldn't they have?

i didnt read the books, but i want to read them now. i thought it was a damn good movie. no comparison to harry potter or twilight at all (hmmm maybe because the hero is a girl, is that why people are hating it?)

great 142-minute long film *precursor: i haven't read the book and i am a 19-year-old male. what makes this movie amazing is the editing, sets, and camera. acting was 3/5, strong but bland. direction was mediocre. but the moving shaky hand-held camera really made this film come to life. it was pretty emotional, even for a strong guy like me. when you see kids being murdered by other kids cold-bloodily for the sake of 'winning'? that is callous and hard to watch. -this movie is basically like runescape pvp. in terms of films, it's like the 1978 running man. go see it! definitely, in theatres!

advice: read the books and watch the movie. and for all those who claim rip off, know that there are only 36 original plots possible. this has been know since roman times. nothing is original. everything is just a variation on a known plots. what is original is the way the author tackles it and the characters involved. example: all love stories are, basically, romeo and juliet.

i don't ever post reviews of movies, but this was a horrible movie and a waste of money. knock off of the movie "battle royale" that was released in japan in 2000.

great movie.....not sure why all these people are hating on it.

just the right amount of action, emotion, and jokes. the hunger gams was one of the best movies of 2012,if youve read the book or not, you wontbe dissapointed
