pretty good movie, though not as great as the book

i loved the book and i love the movie! what is wrong with the people who have it 1 star? obviously you didn't know what the hunger games were going to be about.

i had no expectations going into this movie, and i left more disappointed than i could have possibly expected. this is by far the worst movie of 2012! it was far too long and boring, it lacked necessary character development, but most importantly, it was just a waste of time and money. save your money. don't get wrapped up in the pathetic hype. wait for the dvd or netflix.

warning! if you are a parent you will be disgusted by 12 year old kids stabbing each other to death.... my husband and i left this movie feeling very upset. we saw underworld and hunger games is more violent. how can they even make such a movie. we want our $25 back and 2h22 min. kids violence really??!! horrible

i am the type of person who takes pride in tying to choose a good movie that my wife and i can enjoy. pleae save your money and wait for the dvd or better yet when it's on tv. a completly over-hyped movie just to steal your money. you have been warned!

i thought this movie was amazing; had a great story line and some of the very best talented actors. to the person who is comparing the hunger games to twilight/hannah montana i think you should go take a film course and learn something.

never read the books but the movie was good. i do not thing children 14 and under should watch this movie. it is way to bloody for children. it's kids killing kids so parents think twice.

to any of the people who give it 1 or two stars, read the book first! to thoroughly enjoy the movie you have to know the background ! it was awsome! and the length was needed to fit all that awsomeness in one movie!!!

the worst movie of 2012.

sorry to all you who think this is original...sadly it is a huge ripoff of an anime/manga series called 'battle royale', just made more pg friendly, and with a different setting (and a girl hero - wow original ...:p) and to whoever said this was better than twilight... .. you need to read /watch something actually good... twilight was the worst thing to ever cast a shadow over childrens literature and crazed tweens looking for a hannah montana replacement :s good god, go read a decent book

i haven't read the series, but i thoroughly enjoyed this movie, especially jennifer lawrence's performance. she's definitely one of the greatest young actresses out there. the movie was a little long, but i guess they're just trying to capture the essence of the book as much as they could. oh, and it's not as gory/violent as people have mentioned, definitely not comparable to the level of brutality in battle royale! if you decided to see it, be prepared for overexcited & loud teenage viewers!! they can be quite annoying (before, during, and after the movie) :(

same old, same old. female character was a watered down version of angelina jolie. great potential, dissappointing outcome. too long. this was simply a reality show with killing. i'd rather watch celebrity apprentice.

great movie! i have read all three books and i think it was perfect! i really enjoyed everything and they got all the important scenes!

amazing movie!!! a lot of people say its a horrible movie and book because they thing its about kids killing eachother but they're missing the point!!! its about how love and determination can conquer all so you should never give up!!! i don't know why people hated the movie because the graphics were amazing and had a great story line.

to those who have read the books (5 stars) to those who havent yet (4 stars) this movie was very well done. it was pretty true to the book and it desurves the hype its gotten and read the book if you havent yet!

absolutely awesome movie! it hit all the action points and is an excellent complement to the book. i really enjoyed how it was told from a different perspective and showed behind the scenes information from the capitol's perspective.

my wife chose the movie and she fell asleep. she snores. it was embarrassing.

see it on cheap night, but don't blame me when you discover you've wasted your money.

makes potter and twilight seem intelligent.
